Oh I'm reading it and I get what you're suggesting/praying for. I'm just not going to jump on your bandwagon of excitement for removing a man from his job because of some retracted accusations that both attorneys and the judge have all said have no merit just because YOU think youre painting some rational picture of how this "could" unfold.

In this day and age it only takes a accusation.

In her complaint, she said Marty Hurney was “extremely controlling and was verbally and emotionally abusive” during the marriage. She said in the complaint that her phone, laptop and security system have been hacked and that she changed her locks three times in three days last summer. “My privacy has been violated for the past seven years with Martin’s behaviors of tracking me, my pets and violating my property,” the complaint reads.

Jeanne Hurney alleged in her complaint that her ex-husband or his associates had recently broken into her home and classroom. At her home, she said, the intruders had placed sticky notes in a book of hers around such words as “victim,” “terrorize” and “may resort to violence.”

I have no idea whats true and whats not true in this particular case.

But I do know my impression of the description above is that it sounds like it was plagiarized from a bad Lifetime movie.

That's pretty lousy on your part.

When the story with Jerry Richardson broke, I specifically said that while I considered him no longer being in charge a good thing, I sure as hell wouldn't have wanted something like this to happen.

Likewise, I don't believe Marty Hurney should be GM of the Panthers, but I wouldn't have wanted it to happen this way. And no, I don't believe he or anyone else should suffer consequences for something they didn't do. I acknowledge that it happens, but that doesn't mean I want it to happen.

I'd add that I've acknowledged the possibility that this could all blow over and have no effect at all.  But how many prior situations (Newton's comments to Jourdan Rodrigue for example) have we seen escalate above what anyone reasonably expected?

Bottom Line: I've never at any point expressed a positive view of anyone suffering real life consequences for football issues.  Supporting that sort of thing is no different than wishing injury on players, being willing to excuse rapists and wife beaters if they play football well enough, assuming that any woman who accuses a famous athlete is just a gold digger or taunting someone over a real world tragedy like some opposing fans did to Joe Jurevicius a while back.

So if you think I'm the kind of person that's capable of thinking like that, you don't have a single frigging clue about me.

It's lousy of me because I won't take part in dreaming up a scenario where an innocent man could lose his job? Right...

Are we now going to all of a sudden bring in white GM candidates for interviews...?

I mean that certainly would satisfy the spirit of the Rooney Rule wouldn't it? We've only interviewed Hurney and minority candidates. If he's out, then it seems only fair that we should interview a qualified white guy.

That's how affirmative action is supposed to work right?

Same as with Colin Kaepernick, Marty Hurney just isn't good enough at his job to put up with something like that.

Oh careful there Mr. Scot. That's blasphemous to alot of people lol.

But again, fair or not, the NFL's image has taken a hit among the female audience over the last few years.

The interesting thing is that the only females I've heard even mention that are also quite upset about the anthem protests. The overlap is quite interesting to me. It seems that feminist types who would normally be all up in arms about it either didn't care about football in the first place and haven't noticed, or have quietly kept watching. Either way... Very interesting.

Regardless the NFL is hemorrhaging fans for alot of reasons. It started before the major political issues got started. Unfortunately the League has taken an ostrich-head-in-the-sand approach to almost every issue. Its... Worriesome.

Didn't read a word of what I said, did you?

It's called "speculation" and it happens all the time.  Doesn't mean it's what I want to happen.

And let's be real: You don't know that Hurney's innocent.  You assume so because that's your judgment, but none of us know. My position is that I don't know either way.  My hope is that the truth comes out regardless of what ultimately happens with the GM job because that's what's best and real life is more important than football.

For someone who fells like they've got a firm idea on a situation involving people they don't know, you don't have any idea about the reality of someone you've talked to directly.
