I'd have to figure those would be cases of getting someone else to do it.

There are lots of guys out there who have the skill.  Quick trip to the deep web will likely find you one easily.

Hurney probably thinks the Deep Web is something Spider-Man does.  :)

To be honest, if he contacted someone to do it, it would be easy to track/find out.  Erasing the evidence of such a event is more difficult than the actual hack.  Especially if he was stupid enough to do it from a Company computer.

It's possible.

Look at recent history though.  The NFL horribly bungled both the Ray Rice and Josh Brown situations and embarrassed themselves greatly in the process.  They're not gonna wanna make similar mistakes.

More relevant to us, though?  Jerry Richardson.

I have no doubt that when Jerry Richardson announced he was selling the team, he did so with the expectation that the NFL would accept that as his mea culpa and just let him walk away.  Obviously, that didn't happen.  And now, despite him basically volunteering to take the worst punishment that could happen to him, they're continuing with an independent investigation.

Had they let Richardson walk away, I'd be more inclined to believe they'd take it easy on Marty.

Now, who knows?

Once he sells, how can they punish him?

They create a perception though, especially given he's in the shadow of Jerry Richardson.

Fair?  No, but hey...

If we weren't on the heels of having to change owners for a sexual harassment scandal, and also caught in the #metoo wave, you might be able to absorb it.

Under the current circumstances, not so easy.

That doesnt matter at all...

In her complaint, she said Marty Hurney was “extremely controlling and was verbally and emotionally abusive” during the marriage. She said in the complaint that her phone, laptop and security system have been hacked and that she changed her locks three times in three days last summer. “My privacy has been violated for the past seven years with Martin’s behaviors of tracking me, my pets and violating my property,” the complaint reads.

Jeanne Hurney alleged in her complaint that her ex-husband or his associates had recently broken into her home and classroom. At her home, she said, the intruders had placed sticky notes in a book of hers around such words as “victim,” “terrorize” and “may resort to violence.”

Thanks for the info. These are pretty serious allegations. I hope that they seek proof instead of word of mouth. Based off what the judge did with denying temporary and then she withdrew, this seems a bit sketchy.

This is what we call a nothingburger.

Funny thing.  That doesn't really say "he didn't do what I accused him of".  It just says "nothing about this affects his ability to be a GM."

If she were to turn around and say "I filed false charges" she'd be in big trouble, so she can't really back off on what she said he did.  She can, however, say, "I don't want to resolve this in court".

This may help his situation a lot, but I doubt it stops the NFL from conducting their investigation.

Fair enough, but fame and money will get you in the right perception of the public? Let’s say JR is found innocent, will that help him? I feel like if you’re innocent perception will and should change for the better.

Guilt or innocence is in the eyes of the beholder regardless of facts to the masses.  If you're well loved most will ignore or forgive your indiscretions.  If you're not then nobody cares and you are left to the wolves.

By punishing the team, or if they find indications he might have done anything illegal (unlikely) by turning evidence over to authorities.

Since the team failed to report four non-disclosure agreements - which is a violation of NFL policy - they could indeed wind up losing draft picks.

The franchise is already associated in the public consciousness with a dirty old man of an owner.  Fair or not, people are gonna tie Hurney into that story too.  Heck, people will probably start asking questions about whether Marty was in on JRs shenanigans.

Literally, the Panthers need to drain the swamp at BofA.

Great, losing draft picks because our owner may have been a huge perv and not because we cheated to win a Super Bowl. Never in my life would I imagine a team losing picks like this instead of affecting the field of play. Unreal. If he did do it, we should be punished for not telling the league, but losing picks, whoa.

I'm sure the team pretty badly wants to put the Jerry Richardson misconduct story behind them as soon as possible. How do you do that if you have a GM who was the target of a similar complaint?

Even if he's found not guilty, people aren't gonna forget that so easily.  Heck, how hard did media - even at a national level - go after Cam Newton for a comment that unintentionally came out as sexist?

(heck, don't be surprised if people bring that story back up now too; trends and all)

But they arent the law, if the law is letting it go, how can the NFL keep investigating and so on? Are they above the law?

Did Ezekiel Elliott do anything illegal or that was game affecting?

Hurney is technically a league employee so he's subject to the personal conduct policy.

And think about it: If they go easy on Hurney after being tough on Elliott, what are people gonna say? :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:
