All of them are capable of getting hired for executive jobs by somebody other than Jerry Richardson.

That puts them easily a notch above Hurney.

That's true, but it probably would also mean mediocrity. Which can be difficult to remove once in place. Shula being the most obvious example.

I hope they need to get gm soon and this causes them to hire someone else.  If hurney is innocent then i wouldnt mind as much to see him in some other role in the front office.  I think he would be fine even in Morrison's old role as team pres.  Just not as gm...

Just a thought.

alot of people have been calling for this. Just hire  a more qualified GM and if Hurney's case gets cleared he can get some other position thats not related to actually managing the roster or player contracts.

December: ex-wife files for more alimony

February: ex-wife claims harassment

I would suspect something happened in January that could explain a lot of this

That's a real possibility.

Honestly, even if all that comes out of this is Marty looking like an a--hole husband, do you wanna make someone with that image the person who does most of the press work and public speaking for your team? (especially if you're trying to get someone to spend a billion dollars to buy it?)

Public perception is a pretty big deal to the NFL these days, especially after the way the Giants handled their kicker.

Like him or not as a GM, Hurney has always acted with class in and out of this organization. Let’s be careful before we ruin the man’s reputation, on what already look like some pretty shakey allegations. I don’t want him as GM either, but I don’t want to see the guy’s life ruined by a money grubbing ex. He deserves the benefit of the doubt until the claims against him are substantiated.

What even happened? It says sexual misconduct or something, then it mentions there was no domestic violence. Did she say he hit her or raped her?

Please let this trash be swept out the door by whatever means possible. First Shula now possibly Hurney before he signs players to any of his hideous contracts.

Imagine being a completely professionally run Franchise next season.

*crosses fingers*

As numerous posters have pointed out,, where the fug was Hurney when JP had his jeans days.

It works for the US government.

I was suggesting that her request was denied, which is the cause for her actions in Feb.

Firmly against false accusations, but if it were to ever happen, so that the net outcome for millions of ppl was positive, then I nominate Hurney.

I hope he’s gone.  I don’t care much for his face.

I would, however, spend the day working for him, gathering his things in bags and boxes to throw into the street.

whelp.

David NewtonESPN Staff Writer

The complaint of harassment against Panthers interim GM Marty Hurney by his ex-wife has been dropped and there will be no follow-up hearing. Said Hurney's attorney, Kathi Lucchesi of the initial charges: “This is false. No truth to it. Absolutely fiction. Made up in her mind.” Lucchesi said the next step is to get the Panthers to lift the paid administrative leave Hurney has been placed on by the team.
