They need to have somebody in place before the 20th is at all possible.  I wouldn't guarantee that the NFL will conclude their investigation by then.  And I can't see the team installing him while the investigation is still on going.

And who knows how long they give it? Heck, Richardson was accused months ago and that's still just getting started.  They could easily just fold the Hurney investigation into the Richardson case.

It's pretty easy for one of us to sit back and say "this is nothing" but the NFL has to make absolutely certain that every possible base is covered.  And as mentioned, having a GM who's in the news for the same reason as the outgoing owner - even if it doesn't turn out to be true - isn't a face you wanna show somebody who's considering whether or not to spend a billion dollars to buy the team.

As any Panther fan should know, they allegations don’t need to be true. The fact that he was accused is enough to get the boot from the Panthers. Works out in our favor in this case.  Hope for her sake it’s not true, but I’m glad this means there’s no way he gets the full time gig.

I hope they need to get gm soon and this causes them to hire someone else.  If hurney is innocent then i wouldnt mind as much to see him in some other role in the front office.  I think he would be fine even in Morrison's old role as team pres.  Just not as gm...

Just a thought.
