Cowards don't win championships. Is Ron Rivera a cowardly head coach?

Rivera is an ok coach who will get you to the ship but if his team is playing in a game where pressure is mounting he will fold and get out coach because he lacks the offensive side of the ball. He gives his defense all the chances in the world to win the game  when sometimes it takes guts to go with the offense and say hey Cam you are the leader of the offense go do your thing. If it was bc he did not trust Shula then it' still his fault bc he had the power to replace him or whoever he lacked confidence in. Now Norv is here let' see if his coaching style changes.

I understand your point (even if I don't necessarily agree with it),  but you've left out the most important part.  You have to have personnel that you can trust in order to go off the script as well.  You have to have players that execute the plays when they're called upon.  You can't have turnstiles at the tackle position,  and you can't have receivers leaving balls on the field, and you can't have a starless secondary if you expect to make a genuine push for a championship.

But, as you said,  we'll see what the future brings.  I don't think that Ron Rivera's coaching style needs substantial change, just a few tweaks.

Ron has never had back to back winning seasons and neither has this organization.  This is the epitome of mediocre and it saddens me that you fans are cool with that.  We will play the 2nd best teams in the conferences around the league next year and typically that's when we fold.  We need an owner who is competitive and doesn't want to go 192-192-1 over the next 23 years.  Ron is an average coach with HOF talent at key positions and below average talent and more than half of the team.  I would hope more talent would help Ron and his coaching record.

Rivera has had All Pro and HOF level players the entire time he's been in Carolina. He had Steve Smith, Ryan Kalil, Jordan Gross, Cam Newton, and Greg Olsen from the get go. Kuechly shows up and his defense magically turns stout. And he's gotten seasons from legends like Charles Tillman, Jared Allen, and Julius Peppers. Lack of talent has never been an issue.

So Cam has had the talent he needs to be great right?

You do realize that Rivera's record is better than average, right? You do realize that this team was a train wreck when he took it over? You do realize that the ONLY sure HOF talent that he has coached here is Steve Smith,  Jared Allen and Julius Peppers while they were nearing the tail end of their careers,  right?  The only other players that may smell the HOF right now are Greg Olsen, Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly.  Ron's situation has been far from a bed of roses. He has arguably done more with less due to questionable moves by his bosses.

No one is cool with mediocrity. That's ludicrous. There are just those of us who understand  that  you can't judge a complex organization and dynamic situation in such a simplistic manner.
