Eagles rode receiving makeover to Super Bowl berth. Should Panthers try that route?

WR isnt the only thing we need this offseason. I'd say we need 2 good WRs, a good vet CB thats not near the end of their shelf life,  a good young saftey, and a young power RB. Thats at least 5 players.

And still need a left tackle...

Not a big thing. They rode a lot of stuff to this point good coaching tough defensive line, better Oline play and the added outside threats..

Pats also added Cooks .. So again a vet WR can help a team..

That's why I'm all for giving Cam a vet experienced Wr over drafting another rookie and waiting until he develops...

Unfortunately, we didn’t pick the right year to need serious upgrades at WR. Last year the Eagles took advantage of a very solid free agent WR class. The Panthers let their best WR walk and give similar money to a career special teams player who was arguably the worst WR in the NFL last year. The only receiver worth a damn will most likely get tagged and the rest of this FA pool is trash. Thanks Gettleman. I hope Samuel turns into a pro bowler next season.

There are some really solid upside options this year... Pryor with Cam could have another breakout year. Lee/Hurns from JAX could both be solid. Also, Mike Wallace could be our Torrey Smith this year, probably even better. Paul Richardson is intriguing. Sammy Watkins is very good if they don't tag him or come to an agreement on a long term deal. Moncrief intriguing as well.

This league is not driven by receiver play. The two best receivers in the modern era, Moss and TO weren’t battling for the Super Bowl every year. Foles rode a record into the playoffs and played a pussy ass Falcons team and an overmatched team with no QB in NFCCG. The motherfuger stumbled into the game. Other than that, y’all know this is a QB driven league. Receivers don’t win Lombardi’s.

All this run is shown how utterly overrated Wentz is.

In 2016 Torry Smith had 20 receptions on 49 targets for 267 yards and 3 TD for the 9ers.

In 2016 Alshon Jeffery had 52 receptions on 95 targets for 821 yards and 2 TD's for the Bears.

These stats aren't awesome.   I think we can match it.

Yeah,  but people pretty much knew that Smith and Jeffery had game. They weren't really question marks.  So,  it's not necessarily about the stats,  but the players.  And the free agent class just isn't as good as last year's. We'll be taking a chance either way,  so we have to be more thoughtful and democratic about who we pick up.

Look for the guys with a history of production.. More than one year of solid numbers in their career... There are a few avivalbe option.. Mike Wallace is 1..

I don't know. It seems like a solid strategy, but instead I think it would be genius if the Panthers just saved the extra cap room for next year. They should also do whatever they can to find a great punter, because it's going to be one of the most important positions on the team since they won't be moving the chains. Maybe next year's fourth for a veteran or something, just spitballin' here. :crying:

You have a bright future ahead of you.  I see you as a GM for a team, no, no, TWO teams, very soon in your future.
