NFL Man of the Year

At least he (and the charity) is guaranteed something though...

$500,000 will be donated in the name of the 2017 winner. $250,000 will be donated to the winner’s charity of choice and $250,000 will be donated in his name to expand Character Playbook across the country. The two other finalists will each receive a $100,000 donation to their charity of choice and a $100,000 donation in their names to expand Character Playbook.

I know its for Charity but as a man it I wonder how Greg feels behind closed doors. This could be his third straight year of the camera zooming into his face after losing to another player. I know just being nominated is honor but I guarantee you he wants to win that award. Esp. After the BS they pulled last year... I'm expecting JJ to win but I wouldnt rule out another tie w/ Greg winning also. Unlikely but possible.

No way in hell does JJ walk out that building without that award.

I would like to see the NFL adopt 4 or 5 charities....Like they used to support the UNITED WAY, they could have St. Judes,  Peace Corps, and Kanye West, for example.  When a player gets a fine, they pick the charity and submit it--the NFL could publicize it.

I also have a radical idea---if a player injures another player doing something illegal, that player should have to sit out as long as the injured player and the team of the suspended player should have to pay the injured player's salary.  That will eliminate head shots, chop blocks, etc.  Call me crazy, but it makes me mad if a player for another team takes out my player and then the only consequence that benefits my team or player is a penalty that could be meaningless.  I am sure there is a down side, but I am on a roll...

this was his last chance, was it not? 3 times nominated? I read that somewhere when he was announced he was up for it again this season.

I think he's been a finalist three times in a row. Last year they called it a tie for two of the finalists and left Greg out in the cold by himself. That was such a massive slap in the face. If you're gonna puss out and call it a tie anyway, just give it to all three guys.

Maybe it’s just me but this might be the one “competition” that he could probably care less if he wins. When u hear him speak about his foundation and what it does for the community, he comes across and somebody not doing it for the recognition but for the actual cause. Sure it’s nice to be recognized as “man of the year”...but to think he leaves there pissed cuz he lost, most likely hasn’t/won’t ever happen.

We don’t need to see a patch on Greg’s jersey to know what kind of man he is. And he doesn’t need to be holding a trophy to reaffirm what he already knows about himself.
