GOAT- Brady vs Jordan

This is a really stupid question.  Brady great but he is not even the best football player I have ever seen.  He is simply a great player that happened to be the face of a great team/franchise.  It would be similar to comparing Jeter to Jordan.

Football is a team sport. The best team always win. Dan Mario was a great QB but had a bad team. NBA is an individualizes Game where the best player always win. It’s hard to tell how good Brady will be if we played for the browns. But Jordan will be Great even if he played for the Bobcats or Hornets. I say Jordan

While I agree with what you are saying overall, I disagree with the idea where the best team wins in the NFL and not NBA.  In my opinion the random nature of a one game sample makes the lesser team far more likely to win while the seven game series (and the MLB having different SP each game) makes the NBA the most likely to have the best team win

Brady isn't even best QB of his generation, let alone best NFL player ever. Belichick is GOAT coach though hands down. Too bad he's a chesting scumbag too.

Cant say I agree with you completely on your assessment of Brady, but I see where you’re coming from. I hate when this arguments come up and someone says “So and So has more rings”. Chances are So and So played on a better team or had greater opportunities than other players at his position.

Emmitt Smith has more rings than Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, OJ Simpson, and Eric Dickerson. Take a look their highlight reels and it’s obvious they were all more talented backs. That’s not to say Emmitt wasn’t great, but he did benefit from being in the right place at the right time. All of these  guys would have rings if they on the Cowboys in the early 90s

Brady has had the same advantage. Even Belichick has been fortunate to some degree. He’s as smart as anyone who ever coached this game. But, as I pointed out in another post under another topic he didn’t coach in the era that was populated with coaches like Landry, Noll, Shula, Gibbs, Walsh, Flores, Parcells, Madden, etc. He and Brady would have never won 5 Super Bowls, or made to eight, if their careers were in the 70s and/or 80s. There was more parity among the great teams of that era and the league rules weren’t as accommodating for the passing game.

MJ is the best shooting guard ever. That doesn't make him the greatest player of all time. If he played Wilt Chamberlain one on one while both were in their prime I dont think Chamberlain would lose any sleep the night before the big game. Seriously, what could Jordan do to stop Big Wilt?

How many championships did wilt win?....Russell used to beat him like a drum

That my friend is not entirely true. I suggest you go to YouTube and watch the episode The Top 5 reasons you can't blame Chamberlain for losing to Russell.  It's puts an entirely different spin on the Myth that Russell dominated Chamberlain. Russell's teams were more talented ( The Celtics had about 6-7 hall of famers on those 50's and 60's teams).

The Celtics may have stopped Wilt's teams, but Russell never stopped Wilt. Chamberlain averaged 30 pts, 26 rebounds, and about 10 blocks a game against Russell in their head to head matchups... during a time when Russell was considered the best defensive player in League. But, since The Celtics usually won, there is the perception that Russell dominated Chamberlain.

If I can find that link I'll send it to you.

Basketball is 5 on 5. Football has 2 sides of 11 on 11.

so Basketball can have one player dominate games more than having a complete team. Football must have a team regardless.

so Jordan,.. not even close.

does Brady have films like “come fly with me?”

does Brady have shoes remamed and rebranded for him? Air Jordan,..

did Tom Brady go to the Olympics?

does Tom Brady have the transcendence to the world that Michael Jordan still does? No.

Jordan

Jordan never got a suspension for cheating either.   Brady deflategate to start with.

No telling how Brady would have faired if he played in a perennial tougher division.   Probably during his career the AFCE is worst division in football.

Jordan played in the Eastern Conference was far tougher than the Western Conference.

Here's the link I told you about earlier. Check it out, it's less than 30 minutes long. I don't see how anyone can watch this and come away from it in agreement with your post.

When you say "beat like a drum", you just mean that the Celtics won more championships, right?

Chamberlain was slightly less successful with he faced the best team of all time, with one of the top 3 or 4 all-time great basketball players -and maybe, the best all time defender- guarding him. Wilt still averaged like 30 points and 30 boards when he faced Russell and he also had several 50+ point games against Russell.  If anything that just adds to how great he was.

Edit: forgot to quote you, @bull123
