Norwell will hurt but you can't afford to tie up your salary cap with two guards.

Butler's skillset is more like Short and less like Star.

If star goes i think kyle love is a good stop gap for maybe a season.  Rotation and anything past 2018 will be an issue.

This would be a none issue if we either A) never drafted Butler or B) never extended Short. Now we have two guys who play the same position. One who is a first round pick that will forever be coming from the bench.

We better not have any 3rd round comp picks. That means we just sat around and got poached while doing nothing. If we let Star and Norwell walk, fine. But we gotta do something to improve our roster.

Butler can absolutely replace Star. He is much more like KK in terms of skill set but if we adjust by having DEs who can provide run support (Wes Horton becomes a more important player as a result) then we can sacrifice the interior run defense for an improved interior pass rush that will disrupt the pocket more than our edge rushers have been able to.
