Eric Washington does not believe Vernon Butler can replace Star

Gettleman sure liked stacking 1st round picks at positions of strength.

We better not have any 3rd round comp picks. That means we just sat around and got poached while doing nothing. If we let Star and Norwell walk, fine. But we gotta do something to improve our roster.

Butler can absolutely replace Star. He is much more like KK in terms of skill set but if we adjust by having DEs who can provide run support (Wes Horton becomes a more important player as a result) then we can sacrifice the interior run defense for an improved interior pass rush that will disrupt the pocket more than our edge rushers have been able to.
