Seems like a possible move to not get cut this year.     I think we're fine without him and one year of paying that salary isn't worth it if it means we can't sign any younger guys.    I thought Larson was good, and honestly didn't notice a big improvement when Ryan came back.     I just don't think he's the same player anymore and we're looking at 9 some million to pay someone that will probably get hurt again and miss a lot of games.

Do you go with Larsen/Van Roten/a draft pick and use the $6m or so saved by releasing him to keep Norwell?  I mean, if we are paying Ryan for 8 games, we could pay half of Norwell's contract. (hypothetically)

I doubt we keep Norwell regardless,  but $6m can be used to sign a solid free agent at a position of need.

The problem is Hurney gets emotionally involved with the players he signed.  No way he tells Kalil bye bye.  More likely  that he gives him a raise, bonus, statue, and preferred parking.

I know.  Kalil made a lot of money restructuring his contracts over the years.  It would be interesting to see if he does it in reverse.

I really hope he would be generous enough to take a pay cut. Maybe bring his cap down to $6M and save us $3M.

The more I look at our roster the more I’m in disbelief how much help we need. Have we really drafted that bad? Almost every position needs help. It’s crazy how much Cam and Luke really carry this team.

Uh, id rather do whats best for the team not only this year but in future years. Im not selling the farm just to satisfy our beloved old guys. Especially since they play to win, not the other way around. We dont control or influence barely anything. They need to win for me, the fan. I and millions of other people like me are the reason they get to be kings. 

 

Im all for spending money to make the team better. Its a balance though. Our window doesnt shut with these guys leaving if we can be smart and replace them and add talent elsewhere.

Even if we keep Kalil, he's not what he used to be. And none of the other options are as good as he once was, either.

I see zero possibility of keeping Norwell, and I'm not alone on that.

Bottom Line: For the past several seasons, regardless of what was happening on the outside, our interior line has been a major strength.

This year, it's a question mark. "Good as it used to be" seems out of reach. I'm just hoping the downgrade isn't a steep one. 

That could be major trouble.

thats a lot of cap space sitting in the side line past few years. Thats unacceptable. Idc if its his last year or not we need a replacement ASAP

That's the kind of thing that sets you back for years on the salary cap and all too often doesn't even produce a trophy.
