BLOOMINGTON, MINN.

Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis will have company on his retirement tour next season: Veteran center Ryan Kalil plans to retire after the 2018 season, too.

“This is going to be the last one for me,” Kalil told the Observer in a phone interview Tuesday.

It'll be a sad day when we see these guys leave us.

all in for this year, spend the money.  Send Pep, TD and RK out with a ring.

We gotta convince Pep to come back for another year first. Earlier in the season he'd said he'd like to play another season if we don't win the Super Bowl but then all that bullshit happened and that locker room video after the season sure looked like a man who was leaning heavily toward retirement.

I love how both R Kalil and Charles Johnson are talking about retiring next year when their both very high on the list of players who can be cut to save us on cap space.

The word that comes to mind

This. I honestly don't see anyway CJ is brought back. He was a great player for us, but he was practically useless last season on the field. With Kalil's contract and injury history, it's certainly not out of the question that he could be a cap casualty, but the OL certainly played better with him out there.

    • lol Wonnum at 6m “could be outstanding”? It’s week 6 now and he still hasn’t played. Wonnum will be cut this offseason. There is no “could be” about it anymore. It was a bad signing  A large majority of us wanted Frazier over Brooks at the time of the draft. No one expects him to be a top 10 back. Especially if the middle of our IOL is sh!t. Corbett is a FA after this season and we just spend a fortune on 2 guards… drafting a stud center in the 2nd round on a rookie deal for the next 4 seasons was a damn gift sitting there for the talking. Instead Morgan opted to spend more resources on a running back… talk about stupid  Our cap situation is awful. And will be again this offseason. Morgan needed to sit on his hands and not hand out useless contracts just to because. This team was once again not winning the Super Bowl this year or next yet they continued to operate like they HAD to fill holes. This defense was always going to be bad and guys like Jewell, Robinson, Clowney, Fuller, Scott weren’t changing that. We were always going to be bad this year the least they could’ve done is cleaned up some of the cap mess. Morgan went on a cutting spree and then proceeded to sign a bunch of guys similar to the ones he had just cut. So now we’re eating a crap load of dead money and paying new guys to produce the same results
    • So ironic that Jaycee Horn seems to be the only player NOT injured this year.
