CB Mike Hughes:  From New Bern, NC, a former Tarheel that transferred to Central Florida.  He is what we need because he can cover #1 WRs despite his 5' 11" size.  Can cover speed.  Walter football comments are pretty consistent with the rest of the assessments.  He is a second rounder at this point, and he could be gone by the time we pick...."Hughes is a natural cover corner with speed, quick feet, and agility. He is very fluid and does a good job of running the route with receivers to prevent them from gaining separation. Hughes keeps wideouts from coming open and is quick to recover if they get a step. Hughes has nice hips to turn to run downfield with speed receivers. He also is a willing tackler."

 
T Brandon Parker: Brandon (Kannapolis, NC)  is projected to go as high as the fourth round.  He was the LT on NC A&T's strong squad.  His father (Curtis) played T at UNC and for the Steelers for a brief period.  I personally know the family (Curtis is a friend of mine-we used to coach together, along with Dwight Hollier, former UNC Linebacker and Dolphin/Colt). I can tell you that I have never met a more quality family.  Curtis was also a preacher and I supported his new church with little (then) Brandon serving as Curtis's alter boy.  Brandon and my sons played together when we coached at times.  Brandon is now 6'8" and has great feet.  I watched some of the Senior Bowl practices, and Brandon had no problems on either side of the ball.  His feet and hands are much better than expected from a small college player--I credit Curtis for some of that.  Great character, size, athleticism, and the ability to play LT.  I would love to see us take him as early  as the third round.  At worst, Parker is depth at both T positions.  At best, he is an upgrade at LT in 2019.  Walter football says:

Height: 6-8. Weight: 310.
Projected 40 Time: 5.20.
Projected Round (2018): 3-4.
1/22/18: Parker is a prospect who impressed area scouts this fall. They think he has developmental potential to be a starter in the NFL. They like his size and length to protect on the edge. Sources say that Parker has received some fourth-round grades, and he could rise if he plays well at the Senior Bowl.

I am not high on MJ, but in the fifth or later, maybe (I think he is expected to go anywhere from 3 to 7).

NC State has a few DTs I would love to have, fwiw.  I also like their rbs.  Wake has a DE and TE--

That said 5'11" is a worry but if he plays big no issues.  

I agree with all of this.  ,He can play nickel / slot or outside.  He closes fast after separation and is very good at staying in the hip pocket on deep balls.  I watched some film on him and thought, "Tar heels--you deserve to go 3-9 if you let guys like this transfer."  I see 3 or 4 CBs in this draft that could be "shut down" CBs and he is one.

5'11" and 6'1" are not that different and I would rather have 5' 11" on the WR than 6' 1" a step behind or giving a 10-yard cushion.  :)

 He was kicked out of UNC because of a rape accusation.  He went to a community college afterwards and wanted to transfer to an SEC school but was not allowed to do to a rule regarding not allowing transfers with the domestic violence history.  The Tar Heels win 3-9 because half the team was injured and they did not have an ACC caliber quarterback on the roster.

If you read reports from senior bowl practices,  MJ Stewart has been one of, if not the best player. If he runs a good 40 time at the combine, there’s no way goes any later than the third round. Probably earlier.

His speed is what will hold him back in the draft...3rd rd may be a little early

I will look for him.  I did see an App State helmet at practice, but since I played at WCU back in the day, I looked away. :)

That is a game changer for me.  Did no know that.  If he has character issues, he will not be a panther.  I assure you, Brandon Parker will not have those kinds of issues.  Great kid.
