REPORT: Giants will go hard after Andrew Norwell

This should prob get its own thread because we are discussing Norwell. That said, I think we should start and sticky a consolidated "Gettleman Moves" thread where we can discuss how every single thing that Gettleman does is the dumbest/best move ever. We don't need a thread every time Gettleman extends a back-up linebacker or signs an UDFA but we all know that is exactly where we are headed.

You have to consider what Gettlemen knows---first, that Norwell is good at run blocking and pass protection.  That his teammates fear him.   That he is a good person, etc.

But he knows the Panthers' cap and roster too.  He knows the Cats have needs at DB x 3, WR, DE, and RB.  He knows Star is on the table.  He also knows that 2018 is a year where the cap is going to be a bit strapped.

He also knows we have Moton, who probably projects better to a G than a T.  With a starting-caliber G on the roster, can he force the Panthers to select Star over Norwell?

Norwell iis a beast and if Marty falls for that crap, I will find his car and deflate all 4 tires.  Norwell is so good, he  will be a pro bowler for the next 5 years.  He  is that good, folks, and if Norv wants an elite run game, if Cam wants to stay upright, keep Norwell if it costs 12m.

TIL that you can't credit UDFAs/draft picks to a GM because a scout did his job and found a prospect.  i'm actually going to take it a step further and say you can't credit the scout because he wouldn't have even known about the prospect if it wasn't for the camera operator inside the stadium generating all-22 film.  and there wouldn't be a stadium to record game tape in if it wasn't for the construction firm that built the stadium.  and the stadium itself wouldn't exist if it wasn't for billions of years of tectonic, geothermal, and atmospheric activity that produced the construction materials and breathable air.  and the earth wouldn't exist if cam newton hadn't created it in 7 days.  and hurney drafted cam so hurney is responsible for norwell.  checkmate liberals.

But if hurney had drafted him, he'd be in here celebrating Norwell as the greatest o lineman in the league

outside of the jerk store where cpantherking lives a UDFA gem like norwell would be one of the highlights of any GM's career

Good for Norwell,.. get all you can. No loyalty when it’s your paycheck, teams have no loyalty and neither do fans,..

on that note, who can we replace him with?

Honestly, Larsen could step in and with a full offseason knowing he's the starter, i think it'll be fine. He can gel with unit. We need the caproom for playmaking positions

They will price themselves out of our market and move on as they should.  I'm curious to see where the money saved is spent.

There really isn't any money "saved".  Star/Norwell Cap hit last year was 9.4m.  But this "savings" is allocated to other players already on the team.

For example Addison cap hit goes from 4.4 to 8.9.  Short's cap hit goes from 10 to 17.  Turner's cap hit goes from 3.9 to 7.7.

The question is, can we keep one or both with our current 15-20m in available cap - knowing we have to pay Peppers, a kicker, 7 draft picks, and any other fantasy player the Huddle wants to pick up.

No, there's little money for those unrealistic fantasy players the huddle clamors for.  And wait till they find out that Amini will replace Norwell.

With the money we're likely to save...wonder if the Colts would still be willing to shop a guy like TY Hilton.  Could easily absorb his contract for the next couple seasons, and might could get him for what, a 3rd? Use the Bills pick, essentially a KB for Hilton swap.

Hilton has always seemed really inconsistent to me.
