XFL (Fans Above All)

Honestly, it's going to depend on the QB play.  What sells the game?  Running for 3 yards an a pile of dust while kicking field goals in a ball control game?  Or guys making crazy plays in the passing game?

What do people expect from the XFL?  More violence?  More injuries?  A 21st century blood sport?  Or do they want a more "theatrical" experience like wrestling?

What if they say kids out of high school can go play in the XFL...?

Changes I'd like to see.

On a pass, a catch is complete until the ball touches the ground or is out of bounds.  If the ball touches the ground, it's incomplete.  Two feet down with the ball in your hands is a catch.  No football moves or other bullshit.

Field goals.  Do it sort of like fantasy football.  The longer the field goal, the more the points.  Past 50 yard line is 5 points, 40 yard line is 4, the rest are 3.

Embrace technology to speed up the game.  In helmet radios could eliminate the huddle and unnecessary time outs.

Do away with divisions and schedules altogether.  Set a dynamic schedule by record with no 10-0 team playing a 1-9 team.  Top 6 teams go to playoffs.

Play 10 months with games every other weekend.  No preseason games.

Just some ideas.

Is this bullsshit official rules or your own opinion?

It's a mix of my ideas and things I have heard will be real in the new XFL.

For those expecting a blood sport, it will not be. It is intended to be family friendly. Mac has already said players with a criminal record will not be allowed in the League.

A non-arena football league has a chance at success in this league. I won't go into too much detail, but this is what I would suggest.

1. Start it two weeks after the Super Bowl. Any time it shares with the NFL will crush it. The XFL should not be in competition with the NFL. It should be an alternative solution during the NFL postseason. That would give the XFL "Super Bowl" with an end day near the beginning of NFL training camp.

2. The 8 teams should be very strategically planned. I would look for cities/arenas that have success MLS stadiums and crowds. Teams like LA, Orlando, Atlanta, Colorado Rapids, Seattle, Columbus. I think you get my point. Smaller stadiums gives the teams and on-screen production more energy. The teams should also incorporate other surrounding teams in their cities into their color scheme and logos. Pittsburg has always been the prime example of this.

3. I would try to work out some post-NFL draft, draft with the NCAA. A draft for the XFL would be exciting. Let's admit the NFL draft is the best part about football.

4. I would not change too much of the game. I would go to a lot of the college rules: one foot catch, 15 yards PI, their overtime rules, targeting. I really do think the fans like these rules, for the college game. Let's face it the players are not NFL caliber. So let us not put them on the same pedestal.

How can anyone take the XFL seriously. Do you really think people are going to care more about the XFL and the Memphis Maniax over the league with the Dallas Cowboys, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, etc etc etc.??? I'll watch some games I'm sure, but no way will I actually give a sh¡t about it.... Enjoy your WWE football.....
