XFL Announcement at 3

Well, this'll disappoint some folks.

But it won’t be the same XFL that arrived on the scene 17 years ago. This XFL will be family friendly and driven by technology, with no cheerleaders or other salacious content, no hard-nosed rules like a scramble for the ball to determine the kickoff or the elimination of the fair catch on punt returns.

The goal, as XFL founder Vince McMahon recently told PFT by phone, will be to “re-imagine” football.

“It’s still football, but what would you do?” McMahon said. “Would it be a faster game? We really want to have a faster game. Would we have less commercials? Would you stream it as well as broadcast it? How would that look?”

Those aren’t just rhetorical questions. McMahon plans to seek and rely heavily on the wishes of the fans, and he’s already assuming that fans would like to see the game fit within a window of two hours, not three.

“You have to listen to the audience and the experts,” McMahon explained. “We’ll be asking football fans what they want and what they don’t want.”

For anyone wondering...

After being released by the Oakland Raiders, Smart became a personal trainer, before appearing in Don’t Blame The Lettuce. He currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and purportedly works as a high school guidance counselor.[12] He also owns his own business, SmartSize.

Evidently calling it the XFL might not work for legal reasons. I've come up with some "alternative names":

CFL (Cracker Football League)

LoER (League of Extraordinary Racists)

WPFL (White Peoples Football League)

SOBS FL (Stand or Be Shot Football League)

WQOL (White Quarterbacks Only League) (this will get the coveted Rush Limbaugh recommendation)

I would be far more interested in a league that fought CFB for players.  If the right people with money actually decided to go that route then it could actually be a success.  Then those kids that actually wanted to be student athletes could do so while kids that lack either the ability or the interest to succeed in college could still make money for their craft without having to worry about losing their spot because they failed Western Humanities.

Instead of having college coaches they could hire people with NFL experience and/or aspirations who could therefore give the players better preparation for the NFL.
