why don’t you stop waxing lyrical like twylyght and say what’s on your mind

What you and others refuse to admit is, today's DG defenders are basically an indiscernible throwback of the ardent "Hurneymagic" supporters before things went completely off the rails.

And years down the line, opinions will shift, and Dave will ultimately be regarded the same as Hurney is now.

The common trait between the two is the steadfast blind condemnation of any discussion that might tilt negatively.

I've really liked your contributions in years past, but you are failing to see what all those years of living through Hurney's bullshit has done to you. You're completely and utterly failing to see it now because you are blinded by DG's charm or persona or whatever the hell it is you're hung up on. But eventually it is going to sink in.

Unless our win-loss record under Gettleman somehow changes, I kinda doubt that.

What people liked about Gettleman has zero to do with charm, personality or any of the other bulls--t you're trying to cite here. It had everything to do with the fact that we were winning!

I understand that this might be a difficult concept for you to latch on to, but a lot of us really like winning. And the fact that we did that more consistently under Gettleman than we did under Hurney is why we prefer his leadership.

Pretty much everybody who argues for Hurney has to come up with something other than winning as the standard. But this is football. Winning is the only standard.

So unless you can find some reason why they're going to go into the books and change our records for the seasons that Gettleman was here, no our feelings aren't changing, and your arguments aren't getting any smarter.

i only have one pregunta

in this fantasy world you live in where you're the omnipotent voice of reason for humanity, is dave gettleman a deluded and evil megalomaniac like voldemort or dr robotnik? or is he more like a practical villain like negan or razoul from the aladdin franchise?

If we were winning so much, how did we still not achieve back to back winning seasons? On top of that how did we go from 15-1 in the regular season with a super bowl appearance to only 6 wins the next season? Even more on top of that we barely squeaked into a winning record in 2017 (thanks to Cam Newton putting up almost 800 yards rushing) after being gifted a top 10 pick.

Sounds like we had a hefty helping of mediocrity to wash down all that "winning". And with DG at the helm.

I justified my position, plain and simple, and all your mental gymnastics about Hollywood and armchair GM-ing doesn't void my opinion in the slightest. My opinion is less about scouting and more about team building.  All the players mentioned (and the players Gettleman chose)  got good scouting reports of varying degrees, but what makes the difference between a normal GM,  good one and a great one is actually choosing the player who makes your puzzle most complete year after year.

ok so why do you think gettleman got hired by a different team to be a gm? fired general managers rarely get a second shot so if he got fired the odds were against him by default.

it’s because the reason he got fired was for petty bullshit that the owner had against him and everybody knows it. the giants knew it, and they know that JR had no idea what he let go. in contrast, hurney got fired in 2012 bc he’s a shitty businessman, and the reason why he got rehired is bc JR wants to make sure his favorite players are showered with cap breaking contracts again, and you know who’s good at doing that? marty hurney.

Three division titles, four playoff appearances out of five seasons (yes counting this one, per your own statements) and the single best season in team history.

What's Hurney got to match up with that?

Everytime I hear somebody complaining about Gettleman, it's always some whiny b--ch ass bulls--t like "he cut my favorite player", "he said mean things", blah blah blah. In the end it always boils down to somebody's poor delicate little feelings getting hurt.

What I never hear anybody say is that we were winning more under Hurney, because we weren't.

It's football. It's a big boy game. People are going to say things to you that you don't like. It happens.

And if the next owner gets a real GM in here instead of someone who's daddy to a big happy family, it's going to happen a whole lot more.
