Senior Bowl's coming up, let's talk about D.J. Chark

Bryant is a solid comp for him. Not as much upside as Bryant(but who does?) but much more stable? Hard to focus in on any specific WRs until we see what type of vet WR we acquire before the draft.

Was interested in one of our 3rds if he was available, but I’m getting the feeling he may go sooner than that. Same with ES Brown.

I think that it's premature to say that he doesn't have as much upside.  He's basically just getting started.  To be fair, few people thought that Bryant would be Bryant in that respect when he was auditioning for the league.  And, honestly, Chark probably has a bit more buzz after that 160 yard Senior Bowl performance.  He certainly has my attention.

That more of my going overboard on the upside of Bryant than anything against Chark and his. Like I said, who really has a higher upside than Bryant if he had all his poo together? Very few. I agree with you and would be very interested in Chark at the right price. I’ve been impressed with him for a couple of years now.

Stay away from Chark in the draft. Very little shiftiness, which hinders his ability to seperate. Doesn't acclerate well, which also hinders his ability to seperate.

To top it off, he body catches everything. Literally, everything. I don't ever remember him attacking the ball, instead of letting it drop into his body. Chris Carter said it best, when asked about what he looked for in a WR. "Guys have to catch with their hands. If they're catching in the cradle up against their body, they're trash."

Body catchers ... Big red flag for me.

You’re right. It’s definitely his biggest issue. But we are talking late 3rd here at best. At least I am. And that’s very dependent on who else is available and what vet WR(if any) we get. If Chark was our only WR addition this off-season, I would be pissed. He has upside, but is still a Plan B for me.

Workout warrior only showed up for the job interview.. Hands are suspect ..

College numbers are anemic ..

Reminds me of

You do realize that where you play and who is throwing the ball can make a huge difference. Hell,  it can make ALL the difference.

Are his hands really suspect?  Really?

If anemic college numbers are an indication of whether or not you'll be a good pro,  then a few wouldn't be worth a damn,  starting with Martavis Bryant who had damned near identical numbers.

As for body catches,  that's why you have coaching.  It's also why you have the Combine and workouts. I saw him catching with his hands today.  What's up with that?

As for being a workout warrior,  don't hate on the guy for shining when given his moment on stage.  160 yards in the Senior Bowl speaks volumes and certainly says more than "workout warrior. "

I wondered what type of poo you guys talked about Martavis Bryant.  He probably wasn't even on your lips.

Your opinion ... But I'd rather go with the player with more than 1 game of production and a workout in 3 years.. Okay he had bad QBs.. So did Funch in college so did a lot of players.. But their production in 3 years is better than what Chark is... You name 1 player best case senario... But Bryant numbers were also hit because he played with Sammy Watkins and Hopkins right?? Who did this kid play with that was stealing all the targets??

My opinion.. Tape isn't great, college production is anemic, didn't play in a WR friendly system so the learning curve is bigger.. Sounds like a 6th to Udfa to me... JMO..

You just described Demaryius Thomas coming out bruh

Now I'm not saying he's the next DT but they're eerily similar.

I get your concern, there's plenty of combine warriors and mesurable guys, and he body catches a ton. But there's a lot to like about him. He's got a lot of stuff you can't teach at WR, size, speed, great tracking. Yeah he'd have to learn a lot more but the upside is there.

I'd still want a vet. Say we get Chark I'd honestly love Landry. Would you complain about a WR core of Funch-Chark-Landry-Samuel-Byrd?

No.. Did you even research DT in college?

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/demaryius-thomas-1.html

DT numbers are way better than Chark and he ended his College career with a 1,000 yards 8 TD JR season.. And Tech was a run heavy system with a suspect QB..  You can see the progression in DT college career.. Chark was non existent 1st 2 years than he had a meh season this year..

They are not similar at all..

That's on me. I think I got DT and Stephen Hill mixed up since they're both from GT and both Rose from strong combines
