Senior Bowl's coming up, let's talk about D.J. Chark

Does he have elite speed, explosiveness and athleticism? No

Does he have elite skills hands and route running? No

Auto pass.

He just put up 160 yards in the Senior Bowl.  I mean, NFL scouts are there because NFL talent is there, and Chark stood out among them.  Elite speed is rare.  I think that it's still up in the air about his explosiveness and athleticism. His route running looks better than some, and the kid is coachable. Does he need to work on hands-catching?  Yeah.

I can see your skepticism,  but to say that the kid should be literally overlooked is not good business. One of the reasons for the Senior Bowl is for known and lesser ballyhooed prospects to showcase their talent (and not even in necessarily the best circumstances, being that they're thrust into practicing and playing with people that you don't necessarily have chemistry with).  It can be a good thing. In the case of Chark,  LSU is a run-first school with a history of lousy QB play.

It's crazy to automatically pass on the guy without at least taking a look.

Saw him.  Liked what I saw of Mike White too though I'd agree Lauletta's better.  And yeah, I liked what I saw of Chark. Rahshaad Penny too.

Do we know enough about Washington to say he'll run much press man coverage?

We've run zone blitz here for years.  Wilks ran it but threw in a lot of Cover 2.

This team needs the ability to play single high in the worst way

"They're throwing the slant to Ginn" is something I accurately predicted no less than 438 times in the playoff game alone and the defense never caught on

Not to worry. We have a competent GM now who can pick the best...

Ya know what? I can't. Screw it.

You'd throw slants all game long too if the CBs were giving a 10 yard cushion on every play.

Something to think about.  He's a high character kid as well.

Bryant is a solid comp for him. Not as much upside as Bryant(but who does?) but much more stable? Hard to focus in on any specific WRs until we see what type of vet WR we acquire before the draft.

Was interested in one of our 3rds if he was available, but I’m getting the feeling he may go sooner than that. Same with ES Brown.
