seem to remember Jerry Jones going after the wizard, only for the teams on the committee to push up the contract before the league meeting...

Compensation Committee:

Arthur Blank, Chairman

Clark Hunt

Robert Kraft

John Mara

Bob McNair

It's not full on rigged, but these guys are all businessmen first and foremost. Every single one of them. They care more about the money the league is raking in than their own teams winning 100%. And if you're making the odds slightly better of having better matchups for ratings and more money then they'll all love that and want a piece of the pie.

Adding onto that, the owners all vote yay or nay for new ownership. If a new owner won't play by those rules, and they use that money to get the scoop on serious bidders, that owner won't get voted in.

I don't think the NFL is going to let the patriots lose

You know they're gonna bring up the Giants being the only team to beat them in the SB, if the Vikings get there they have a strong chance since it'll be on their homefield.

So your contention is that the owners, both current and former, are in on it, and for some reason none have ever revealed the rigged nature of the league?

I'm pretty sure the networks pay the same amount regardless of who plays or the ratings, and it's all negotiated years in advanced.

You're thinking very small. You need to think BIG. Which is what all these billionaires do. They see the big picture. When negotiating those contracts what do you think they base it on? No they're not full on rigging games significantly. It's small things that add up to tilt the odds slightly in their favor. It's like counting cards in blackjack. Doesn't guarantee poo for one night. But if you do it over time it'll add up and revert to the odds you create for yourself rather than when not counting the odds are slightly in the house's favor.

It can be played up, but I think they would get more out of winning the super bowl with all the odds stacked against them. Playing the Vikings at home (potentially), Tom healing, gronks status, last game with their d coordinator and o coordinator, Tom aging, etc.

I knew the Jaguars were going to lose when they kneeled it out at the end of the first half with almost a minute left, and three timeouts. They played not to lose, something we've seen far too many times as Panther fans. Though they didn't have Newton to bring it back.

They're not "in" on anything other than knowing how to run a successful business and making money. That's it. None of them see it as rigged. It's a product they put on the field collectively for entertainment. It's not like they're presidents of countries during a war where winning is EVERYTHING to them. Their team winning is extremely minor compared to making money.

Rigging the sport is like being pregnant.  It's yes or no.  if yes you're just arguing over the number of plays rigged, but you are aruging it's rigged.

Like I asked, I just want to make sure I have this right:  You think the 32 current owners, plus the ones that have sold their teams over the years, are all in on it, and are okay with a slightly increased share of 1/32 profit sharing at the expense of their teams winning, despite massive egos.  Okay.

I know, i'm just having fun here.

It's amazing the NFL didn't rig it for the patriots for 40 years until Belichick and Brady showed up!  Even 7 years after Kraft bought the team.  Same with the Seahawks, and New Orleans...

If you don't think that bias happens, you must be new to sports in general.

I just went back and looked at the Patriots AFC Championship gear commercial. Why does the guy showcasing the gear look like Blake Bortles?

Anyway, sucks to see Jacksonville lose. I just hope the Vikings can beat the Eagles and play the Super Bowl in their home stadium.

You really think that these owner invest hundreds of millions or billions of dollars into owning an NFL team with the main goal of seeing their team winning? Lol.
