Soooo... which RB will Hurney be selecting in round 1?

Really, really short sighted. Do you build a winning team with Kurt Coleman, Matt Kalil, geriatric Jared Allen, geriatric Captain Munnerlyn? Looking at wins and losses? A foundation that was laid by Hurney. What pieces to the puzzle did Gettleman add? That is the important part in this. How are we set up to compete long term, with legit NFL playmakers

Funniest thing: I could have sworn the team that went to the Super Bowl and posted the best record in franchise history had both Kurt Coleman and Jared Allen on it. Should I go back and check the rosters to be sure?

Also, it's pretty well-known that Marty Hurney basically reacted year to year. There was no guiding direction.

You really don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Even when Hurney was GM, the primary thing that kept us from ever winning a championship was still Jerry Richardson.

Bingo.  If you were paying attention and have a good memory, there is a pattern of circumstantial evidence that proves this.

So when we were stuck in "cap hell" from bad contracts, it was all Hurney's doing spending that money.

But when DG hands an awful left tackle 50 million dollars, it was all that meddling Jerrrruhhhh Richardson! What is this, Scooby Doo?

Get ahold of yourselves.

Prior to last year, Richardson was generally reported to have allowed Gettleman to run the team as he saw fit.

Two reports from this past offseason give some people pause that Richardson might be returning to his meddling ways.

The first was that Richardson had reportedly told the normally frugal Gettleman to "spend money". That came from Voth.

There's no way of knowing whether Richardson urged that money to specifically be spent on Matt Kalil.  You can theorize based on the fact that Richardson loved Matt's brother Ryan, but it's just a theory.

It's also been thrown about that once Richardson met Christian McCaffrey, there was never any chance we were taking anyone else. Knowing that 1) McCaffrey is a great kid and 2) our soon-to-be former owner would have been a big fan of his complexion, it's definitely plausible. But again, unless more info comes out down the road, it's just the.

On the flipside, we know Gettleman isn't a yes man while Hurney is basically Waylon Smithers. So as of right now, it's pretty much impossible to know for sure, and Gettleman's never gonna talk, so...

No, you see what we really need is to draft another RB early to compliment our 8th overall pick.

  Spoiler Alert!

:eyeroll:

So we gotta spend another first round pick on the same position to compliment a position we drafted top 10 last year?? But he can run in between the tackles like fournette and kamara!!

Real simple. Make a list of additions that Gettleman made to the team to make us competitive long term, real, impact players. Let’s just say if Hurney busted on Cam and Luke this years team goes 0-16.

Hurney has faults. Deangelo extension, Delhomme Extension, and the Brown  trade being the biggest.

The standout players on this team remain, 4 years later. Cam, Luke, Davis, Kalil and Olsen. Hurney guys. If Gettleman was worth a poo, there would be a new group coming into their own.

Short is an impact player, but yeah most of our impact players are Hurney’s.

I don't know why you ppl argue with Scott.. He's a hypocrite who will type novels to confuse and contradict himself.. When trying to make a point. The fact that he hasn't joined the big blue NY Giant forum to follow his God is amazing to me..lol

I mean yeah he's nothing special but at least we know he drafts better than Gettleman. At least we can count on a good 1st rounder.

when he wasn’t trading them away for prepubescent FSU linemen that don’t project to a 4-3

also there’s something to be said about this whole fixation over his first round picks being overstated. i mean he had darrelle revis sitting right there at 14 and he traded down for beason, a guy who never commanded the middle of the defense like kuechly has up until the day his achilles blew up, and he wasted one of our seconds on dwayne jarrett, so we could’ve easily used the 45th on kalil. he traded up for jeff otah, and he had a first round grade on clausen when no other team was gonna touch the guy.

i mean by all means go further but this whole discussion should be left in ancient history where it belongs, and the only reason it isn't is bc richardson brought this wack yes man back bc he couldn’t handle back talk from a guy who was born above the 40th parallel. also it reflects the obnoxious habit of this organization and its fans constantly dwelling on nostalgia.

History revisionist. Not many LB’s can do that. Fact: Beason was an All-Pro and a Panthers great.

don’t just call out revisionism when the argument suits your purposes

here’s another fact: revis was an all pro 4x over. maybe if you can do some research beyond panthers rosters instead of sucking off our first round picks in a particular 10 year span you’d have recognized that.
