Here's what bothers me about the move to State Line property...... forward thinking.

We are (should) be moving towards public transportation more (lightrail/ridesharing). You would think 10-20 years from now that parking lots should be less important. Trust me, I love a tailgate as much as the next guy, but parking lots should not be at the top of owners needs.

Is the lightrail going to extend down to this place? How many hotels could survive from an economic standpoint throughout the rest of the year when the Panthers aren't playing? Who the hell is going to this area (other than Carowinds) in March?

I am not against a retractable roof stadium and keeping the fan experience top notch in our diggs, but uptown offers way more than a piece of land that will take decades to turn into a destination area.

Uptown Charlotte offers so much more in walking distance, has the hotel and overall infrastructure, and just modernized a stadium that is 20 years old. It just doesn't make sense. It didn't make sense 20+ years ago, and it definitely makes less sense now...and on to the 2020s....2030s.....etc.

As per usual, IF Sabates group are the new owners and he gets what he wants at the Carowinds spot, then it will just further prove that the NFL/City is all about themselves.

Parking isn't just about "parking".  It's also about revenue.

Goodell has said the same thing about St. Louis, Los Angeles and San Diego.

And parking has little to do with tailgating and more to do with $$. If an owner can sell you a PSL for $10K and get as much as another 10% of that if you want a reserved parking space for each season....

At the time I sold my PSLs in 2015, my parking spot was almost $400 a season. Can't imagine what they'll cost with a new stadium.

Taking anything he says with more than a grain of salt is a risky proposition. Until we know the new owner's identity and his goals for the team, there is no guarantee at all they will remain here.

Comments from Patriots owner Bob Kraft...

Quote

“I’d be very surprised if someone would try to move that team,” Kraft said after Goodell’s address. “First of all, Charlotte’s an amazing area. ... It’s an area of growth. The fans there have been great.

“I think a new owner would have a very tough time getting 24 votes to move the team.”

I don't care what they do but 2 things.  No NASCAR connection and keep it in the Charlotte metro or suburbs area.  I don't want to have to drive 5 hours to get to a game like I would if it's in Raleigh.  I'd have to give up my fandom and get my Panther tattoo covered.

I'm not surprised. It wouldn't make any sense to be conducting a GM search unless new ownership is already essentially in place and just needs a rubber stamp of approval.

If there's six different groups bidding on it, I doubt anything is already settled, especially not if four of them are from out of state.

DeBartolo being one of them definitely sounds probable.

They best look long and hard at the financial viability of a move. Last heard, 23000 PSL owners had rights to about 64000 seats

as a PSL owner of 20 years, I am done paying another dime for PSLs then I already pay

I am not alone

also they would do well to look at the geographic location of PSL owners. I will not travel further than I do now and I suspect others won’t

I’m getting far too old to throw money away on the NFL
