Playstation vue

I don’t post much but I have been looking on this site daily for many years and thought maybe you fine people could help me make a decision. I have heard a lot of good things about Playstation Vue and direct tv now but have also heard that some of the panthers games are blacked out. I have cable service but my family and I don’t really watch enough tv to justify paying the hefty price. Do any of you guys have PS Vue or direct tv now? If you do then did you get to watch all the panther games? Thanks in advance.

I have direct tv now because we have a discounted price since my wife and I have an ATT cell phone plan. We like it. The live TV is pretty consistent and it has a good selection of On Demand movies and recent tv episodes (although some networks take longer than others uploading the most recent episodes of certain shows). I can't speak for the live streaming of local channels as that option is not available in my area yet (should be coming though). I use a digital antenna for those and havent had an issue watching any panther games using it this season.

lightsout can tell you a lot more about ps vue and how the streaming local channels works for him. Shoot him a PM or i'll ask him for you lol

Thanks for the reply. I know PS Vue has local channels but heard that they black out some of the panthers games for some reason. I will try and send him a pm to see if he has had any problems.

I have PS Vue Core and it's the best service available.  No blackouts of Panthers games at all.  I've tried DirectTV, Dish, Time Warner and Sling and PS Vue is clearly the best.  Just go with that service.

You will need a streaming device and I have a FireTV and 2 Roku and not a ton of difference once you get used to the menu options.  If you have Amazon Prime you might lean to Fire TV but the Roku is very good as well.

No contracts either for Vue and I get all locals in my area.  It's been clearly the best by far.

I had Vue for a little over a year and loved it. I only have TWC now because I moved in October of last year, and my complex combines cable with its rent.

The interface was better than Sling, and  I never had trouble getting Panther games (I was living in Charlotte). They also recently introduced a feature where you can watch two channels at once and toggle which one has sound, which was great for football. Also, they did not offer NBC in Charlotte when I had Vue, so if local channels are important to you, you should check to see what’s offered in your area.

You also want to be sure your WiFi is strong enough to make it a seamless process. I actually hooked my PS4 up to an Ethernet cord instead of using WiFi just to be safe.

Highly recommended, though. Very good service.

Had it for probably 2 years now. No panthers games are blacked out.

What does happen and is annoying is  some NFL Thursday night games could be blacked out because any streaming cable service is not allowed the rights to games that twitter or yahoo paid for.

You can cancel and restart any time. I normally drop it after the football season ends because it’s the only live tv I really care about aside from Game Of Thrones.

Couldn't you get a digital antennae for local games?

Still depends on the area at least for me.  Fox was fine.  However, I couldn't get NBC or CBS even with a digital antenna with booster. Vue has added both CBS and NBC in my area now.  Nothing really I want that I don't have with the Vue service.  Agree on the internet\WI FI bandwidth comment, make sure you have a strong internet connection and hard wiring will make it even better.

The only service that is close would be Direct TV NOW.  Similar offering and great pricing but the locals weren't available to me so that was a big deal breaker.  Also, some people I know that have it complain about buffering with DirectTV now.  None of that with Vue.

Vue also has DVR for free and you can restart programs from the beginning on most programs which is awesome.   Last comment you can play Vue on up to 5 TVs at once...some of the Sling packages only allow 1 TV at a time.

and btw, PSvue >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> sling tv.

i went back and forth between dish and direct for nearly 15 years. when i cut the cord, i wanted something that was pretty close to what we had from the satellite companies. the major reason is my parents live with us (big house so we don't stumble over each other at all) and they've got shows and networks they were used to watching.

i got rokus for all the tvs and then of course got netflix and amazon (those two make up most of what my wife and kids and i watch), but then tried sling because it had live streaming. it had a few channels that my parents were used to watching, but then several other just weird ones. i tried out PSvue on the roku and it was pretty much everything that we had on satellite, even had a "DVR" option for shows they liked to record. it took a little for them to get used to, but it's pretty much like satellite or cable for a whole lot less. the package i've got is $45 a month and i've been able to watch every game. quality has been just fine. i can't really stop live plays and rewind, but that's not all that big of a deal.

fwiw, PSvue counts as a service provider so when you are on roku or something like that and there's some channels you want to watch you have to have a service provider for, just log in using the PSvue account.

Thanks everyone for the reply’s!  You guys have really helped me make the decision to give PS Vue a try.  I live about an hour and a half from Charlotte so I hope that I will still get the local channels which I believe I will.  I have just upgraded to 100mbps internet and will be running the PS Vue through fire sticks on the TVs so hopefully I won’t have any probs streaming on WiFi with that speed.

That internet speed is more than enough.  You'll be fine.
