I agree.  I think he realized he was getting there too early and it would have been a penalty had he hit him.  His momentum carried him past the receiver and into his own man.  It was a mistake but all players make them, especially rookies.

True. But I think the Vikings did the same thing with Walsh when he missed that FG against Seattle in the playoffs.
