Why the hate on Wilks?

This. We started off so strong too. This is what worries me with Wilks. It was like other teams figured us out and Wilks couldn’t recover. I like him and if he stays I hope he can figure it out (also need to draft or sign some DBs)

Talent issue!!!! Currently wondering how much I need to say this!!!

TBH next year is a make or break year for Bradberry and Worley. Two guys surely hand picked by Wilks to be the DB future. I agree we need some more athletes in the back end (guys better than Adams and Coleman) but we’re not the only team in the league with old guys...

You have no idea what you’re talking about, “surely hand picked” how could you even begin to pretend that to be the case?

Gettleman ran the draft, only way you could know that would be for you to be in the draft room.

Right, that’s why I said draft or sign guys. It’s not all talent though, good coaches can mask some deficiencies. DB is a huge need though.

Let me ask you this, what was our defenses rankings last year versus this year? Go look them up and tell me what you think happened.

because I highly doubt only added Julius Peppers and Mike Adams made up for the changes, they are 36 and 37 years old. captain was a non factor this year.

so how do you have a team and unit play so much better without any noticalble improvement with talent? Answer me that.

the people who hate on Wilks forget how bad our defense was last year with pretty much the same players.

I agree I’m not ready to close the book on him yet after his first season as coordinator. Just as players can imporove with experiences, so can coaches.

Oh, I don’t hate him at all, I think he’s a fine coach. That’s why I don’t mind if he’s back next year and we add players. I would like a second chance with him because the players love him. Pep is an ageless wonder though. I feel like bringing him up isn’t fair haha. But I see your point. I never had any hate for him.

This. We were one of the worst defenses in the league last season. This year was a huge improvement.

He did a pretty admirable job in his first year.  He has things to learn obviously, but I feel positive about Wilks as a leader of men.

The fact he's getting some serious looks as a head coach after only one year speaks volumes.  If he was as bad as some people seem to think, I don't believe he'd have many opportunities in front of him.
