How does someone with a functioning brain come to this conclusion if they watched the Panthers playoff game in NO?

You don't need all pro WR's to win, but you need guys who are capable of at the very least hauling in a pass that goes right into their hands or actually come back to the ball when they see their QB scrambling. Also, we've poured a hell of alot of resources into our defense, and let's just put it kindly and say they let us down at times in 2017 while we decided to let our top threat at WR walk over and sign with our most hated division rival. You can keep the identity of being a stout defensive team first and foremost without allowing your offense to fall right off a cliff because you're being cheap.

that happens when you have good talent elevators. For example Smith Shuster was much more polished WR and sturdier build than C.Samuel this past draft

I was firmly a DG guy here for a time, I felt he had it right more often than not his first few years here, though he still couldn't build a competent offensive line and that was one of my few gripes. He gambled on the cheap though at skill positions. He also let his ego get in the way. Both of those factors were his undoing. And it hurt us big time.

Cam Newton is the integral cog in that machine. He makes everybody look better. Look how long Shula kept a job thanks to Cam Newton. Without him we're witnessing back to back losing seasons in 2016 and 2017 in the midst of a Super Bowl core with Gettleman at the helm.

What they did there with Bryant shows how you can effectively send a couple of receivers to the same general area and make it work. The defensive backs were so focused on Brown that they just let Bryant run right by them.

The design just has to be right.

Can you say defense won the title last season?

I mean we definitely need to improve defensively, the secondary first and pass rush second. But we definitely need wrs unless we get Bill Belechick in here
