1. I like Wilks blitzing, as I like a more aggressive defense.   More aggressive than McDLT...replace Coleman and Johnson and we have a very good defense

2. I wonder if when the Wilks interview tour is over (Rooney) if Rivera still wants him...defense took a significant drop 2nd half of season.  Ron may still be in house cleaning mode

The drop off was player related not scheme, it’s a problem when you have a bunch of older players starting. They wear down over the season.

Perhaps the most concerning part is the regression of the DBs on Wilks' watch.

Combine that with the reckless and nonsensical blitzing that  had no regard for the strengths and weaknesses of the defense and we really imploded down the stretch.

Kinda felt like Chud auditioning for a job.

We had two DE’s get 10+ sacks! How the heck is that “not getting pressure”?

If anything THIS year we got great pressure from the front four.

Brees burned us with a quick count to neutralize the wicked pass rush we had.

Pep is not Jared Allen. Pep could play 2 more years.

The secondary and linebackers were getting burned in coverage.

In all honesty the Saints defense just held Shula to bull poo points. If Shula is your OC you better have a awesome DC. Wilks isn't that but With Norv he probably will be able to be more aggressive.

If the secondary wasn't 223 yards off the WR then those blitz calls are fine...whoever's fault that is(since no matter who our DC is under Rivera that happens) is the issue.

Yall some funny goofballs thinking that more talented players can make up for such a large cushion on simple slant plays or if the WR just sits on his route and takes  smoke screen for free, or a curl, or a hitch.....its free catches for all every time.

The thing for the Giants is that all three of their current finalists are in play elsewhere.

McDaniels is reportedly going to Indianapolis, if anywhere.

Patricia will probably be the choice of the Lions.

That leaves the Giants with Shurmur, unless Arizona hires him first.

Then what?

They went from being coached by Wilks directly to being coached by Curtis Fuller and Richard Rodgers.

I think that's probably more of a factor than anyone realizes.
