He was asked to do those things because we ldon’t have a run game outside of him. He is literally our entire offense running and passing.

how do you explain his passing stats being up there with HOF qbs after their first 7 seasons?

Nothing wrong with Cam But to say he isn’t a running qb is incorrect. He’s a running qb who is also a good passer

Ugh I’m tired of hearing all these jabs at Cam about “fixing” him and what not. Dude does not need to be fixed. Is he the best passer? No. But he makes up for it with all the other things he brings to the table. He’s a top 10 qb that any team would kill to have.

To win the super bowl we need more guys like cmc and others sharing the load with cam

I think we’re getting caught up in semantics. When people use the phrase running qb they mean it as a slight to him. That he can’t throw. So either way you say it is fine as long as people mention how prolific a passer he has been compared to other qbs in their first 7 seasons

If Cam is a "running QB", then so are Wilson and Rodgers.

You guys get too caught up in semantics. He can make all the throws, but unfortunately he has a tendency to be streaky. Having to carry the run game hasn't exactly been helpful for his growth as a passer. People want to win at all costs, even if it means using Cam as a literal battering ram and high flying acrobat to jump into the end zone, but if he sails a pass the next drive, they lose their minds.

The reality is Cam is a rarity. He isn't a player that you can just stamp as a cut and dry cookie cutter type. What he brings to the offense, and what he does for the offense each week while willingly taking the brunt of the criticism in stride is unlike anything that has been seen from a QB in the modern era. That's good and bad unfortunately. It obviously means that Cam Newton was worth the first overall pick and then some, but it also means that if he's still having to do all this 8 years later, our FO dropped the ball along the way several times. Now look where we are at WR, back to looking for a #1 again. As much as things change, they stay the same.

In order for the team to win the Lombardi we need to have cam be more of an orchestrator and less of a playmaker to keep defenses off balance. That will require a top receiver added to the mix and a power back to replace Stew. We have some playmakers already in cmc and Olsen and hopefully sanuels
