I agree.  Norv has done it multiple times.  Cams production went down when Chud left.  Shula just plain sucked.  Norv will be better than Shula, no doubt.  We are looking at two winning seasons in a row, for the first time.

I'm pretty sure that's the benchmark for Ron and his band of merry men or the may not get another shot at it here.

Cam runs (and runs effectively) because he has to,  not because he can't pass.  I could see if he was Jimmy Clausen, but he can ball out by airing the ball out.

Seriously, i dont know why this is a hard concept to understand. Maybe people just deny it cuz they hate cam so much. Regardless, I guess its just like that guy said on charlotte sports talk radio.

"Cam newton makes people stupid."  It was a great joke at first but now i think it couldnt be even more legit after listening to people talk this season.

If this doesn't  work and Ron is canned he doesnt deserve another shot as a head coach and i dont know why anybody would think he should. You had a mvp QB and Defensive MVp majority of his time here and could never put together back to back winning seasons. Not many coaches get lobs like that. His unwillingness to adapt, poor game management, and loyalty to people around him has held this team back despite the success. There is still a significant level underachieving to me, i wouldn't even give him a interview far as a head coach.

Deserves got nothing to do with it.  Not everyone will view the situation here the way you do.  He will get a job if he wants one.

Cam runs the ball, but when he passes, it's not like he is rolling out much, if hardly. It's such a common misconception, fallacy that just gets repeated. Like it gets said without even thinking like a natural instinct, it makes no sense and coming from a guy who just called our game where he lit it up from the pocket. I dont get how a few designed running plays throws such a big monkey wrench in the scheme except for teams defending it.

When you look at things on the surface it looks like Cam is a below average passer. For Troy to say things like this when he’s played the QB position at a high level and understands the nuances of the game it is inexcusable. He’s doing a disservice to a fellow professional and it makes me not take anything he says seriously. You can’t on one hand call out how horrible a Shula play design is repeatedly and then on the other hand talk about how horrible Cam is as a passer. Those two are linked.

Cam makes some poor throws but if you look at the entirety of a game compared to other skilled passers its roughly the same. He’s not Drew Brees or Brady. But he’s not a running q.b. He’s a qb who can run.

who is he going to launch it to? Samuel cant stay healthy and was never  a deep threat in the games he did play in. Byrd wasnt  a deep threat in the games he played. Clay has speed but very suspect hands and he didnt establish himself as a deep threat either.

Id hate to rely on a bunch of dudes that had an entire season to show at least some flashes at being deep threats but none ever materialized in 17 games

Samuel has only been in the league one season, can't stay healthy is based on one season. He broke his ankle, could happen to anyone. Once he got over the hammy he was fine. Just call him a bust, it's about as inaccurate as calling him injury prone. It would be one thing if he was also hurt in college but it isnt the case.

I think the point is to fix the bad Cam and keep the good one.  Constructive criticism is a good thing.

I definitely think Cam needs to be pushed by somebody who knows what the fug they’re doing. I just get tired like most people when we get the tmz version when we should be getting a well rounded, thoughtful opinion that goes into the nuances of the position and offense as a whole. Which is why Troy is very disappointing to me. And that’s not just with Cam but with every nfl player. If they’re doing it with Cam, you know they do it with a lot of others. Lazy opinions.

Most experts and well respected people around the league have always spoke highly of Shula also. Only heard bad things from the fans which is to be expected.

If I was a defensive coordinator, I'd have nothing but good things to say about Mike Shula too.
