Well you better cross Landry off your list. Dude is looking to break the bank.

He's going to get a contract like Green Bay's Devonte Adams which is 14+ mil a year. So yeah he is pretty much a pipe dream.

That should be expected.  Adams is the most recent comp for him.

It always amuses me when people around here complain about us not going after somebody but then they say stuff like "I would offer him x amount or an incentive laden deal".  You can offer all you want but more times then not people around here guess low.

This is one reason I'm kind of interested in Lee. I'm thinking he will be more around $10m.

Landry was going to get his money regardless because he was the #1 WR on the market. Adams deal just set his price to start negotiations for his agent. This was why I never considered him an option for us.

Who? Lee?

Emmanuel Sanders: $11m a year

Austin $10.5

I hope you are right but it wouldn't surprise me if he signed for more then most people thought.

I could see Watkins and Robinson both resigning with their current team or being tagged.  Gordon is a RFA I think.  After those three where does Lee fit in?  Somebody will throw some money at him.

True, but there have been some good ones in the second here lately,  Allan Robinson (61st), Michael Thomas (47), and JuJu (62).

I would prefer to draft one in the second or third before reaching for one in the 1st or giving up a lot of assets to trade up.

Sure, if we can get a HR pick. I just want a guy, no matter the round we get him in. It would be great to hit on a 2nd or 3rd round pick, no question about that.

The prevailing thought was that Austin was overpaid.  I don't see how one would justify paying Lee above the likes of Michael Crabtree, Pierre Garcon,  or even Golden Tate, but we will see.

I could see someone signing him to a prove-it contract on the relative cheap and then perhaps paying him more in a year,  but he is nowhere near a top level guy right now.  Barring that,  I'm thinking 5-7 mil mil per year for 2 or 3 years.

I was talking about him as a WR. I don't know anything about his game, yet he is suppose to be a top WR on the market coming off an ACL injury.

He's a number 1 wr. Has solid speed and hands good size route running has improved every year in the league.. He will want about the same as Landry because they are in the same tier of WR rankings.. Probably will get his money from the Jags because he is their best WR when healthy.  So like you say he might be a pipe dream.

I wouldn't waste another draft pick on a WR until you find out what you have in Byrd, Samuels and Funch.. All under the age of 25..

Then Cam already has to wait on these guys getting up to snuff.. He shouldn't have to wait for another when you can give him a day one ready starter in FA...

i'm not opposed to getting someone in FA. i just don't want us to spend $12 million a year to get him. i've mentioned moncrief as a guy who we should look at.

Where do you draw the line?  If you spend big money on a veteran WR than you have no money for other needs. We should be keeping Star or Norwell so I don't see us blowing our whole wad on a receiver.

We will address it, how remains to be seen.  I think the best choice is someone who excelled with Turner before and a late round pick.

Hurney, If I remember correctly, was supposed to be a CAP genius and hopefully he doesn't go ape wild and bury this team in Cap hell again.

Good article to help explain what we're likely looking for at receiver:

http://rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/77372/351/shrine-game-scout-conversation

Samuel was mainly used on the outside when he played (Byrd was too) but might be better in the slot.  If that is the case then we'd be looking for a size/speed player on the outside who can "win" vertically. 6'0"+, 200+, 4.45ish or better.  Players like Mike Wallace, Sammy Watkins, Donte Moncrief, Charles Johnson, Martavis Bryant (trade), Torry Smith (possible cut) all come to mind.

Like I said if we lose Star or Nor Well for a star outside threat in the passing game so be it..

We have a lot of money and pro bowlers in those position.. You have to spread your money out to be more blance.. If you have 2 highly paid DT you are cheapen another whole position on the team.. Same at guard..

Example Dallas..

High paid Oline with their dline and secondary taking the pay cut for it...
