Some of your guys are acting like Pryor is still a developing project with upside. The guy will be 29 this season.... he prob has one more stop left in his career and that's it. I don't think there is much room for improvement at this point.

If Pryor can be productive with Cody Kessler and the Browns as their go-to guy,  then he should undoubtedly improve with Cam and other weapons on the field.  I'm not talking necessarily talking raw numbers,  but as a complementary piece.  Pryor in the mix with an offense that likes to get vertical---and use the run to set up the pass---sounds fairly intriguing to me. If we could get him and Moncrief,  I'd be down.

I 100% want Pryor in a panthers uni.  I know he had issues this year, but the offense in Washington doesnt fit him.  He is the kind of receiver that Cam likes, he isn't a timing precision route runner, he is big and uses his size well.  Cam waits for a guy to get open before letting loose which is what he does well while The redskins offense is all timing based and designed to throw to spots.  He basically had a 1000 yard season with cody kessler throwing to him while doing exactly what cam likes to see in receivers.  IMO, get him here and watch him flourish.

I think Pryor could  be Ginn 2.0 for us. Maybe even more because he has size to go along with his speed. If we can get him for cheap we should do it.

Not only that we could use him on gadget plays with his ability to throw the ball as well. He could add  a lot to this offense imo.

Affordable.

The main reason why I think we should pursue him. He has the potential, dude is just 1 year removed from 1000 yard season. You don't produce those numbers without having talent. The more I think about he is becoming my favorite target in FA.

We could sign him for cheap and still grab another veteran WR.

Looking at this FA class, I think you get the most value on the mid-tier contracts: Mike Wallace, Jaron Brown, Paul Richardson..it's not the best class.

I don't see Jaron Brown as being anything more than what we already have.  I see JAG written all over him.

I'm just saying, looking at this FA class, I don't see anything interesting.  He'll be as good as a bet as an overpaid injury prone Robinson.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
