Receivers need to be #1 priority.

I am not sure how disappointing it was. He was signed to be a special teams guy, not to have to make catches in a playoff game. The KB trade and the injuries forced him into a role he wasn't expected to have.

He was brought in to compete as the #3 or #4 WR. He even started the season as the #3. Like I said, he was open a ton as he ran a lot of underneath crossing routes that were cleared out by the deeper routes, but he was hardly looked at by Cam despite having a solid training camp. Then as the season went on Cam finally threw him the ball and he dropped them.

Before you guys get too excited about any wr you better figure out the type of receiver Norv covets in his offense.  And yes it will be his offense.  He will erase all the scribbling changes Shula did to his plays.  The route combinations will be redone and that will help tremendously.

Some of the answers are on the roster.  A few more pieces will be added but don't expect a flashy name to be added on O.  The D will get a makeover for sure.

Josh Gordon had 87 receptions for 1676 yards and 9 touchdowns with Norv Turner in 2013

I blame the Saca hype beast on that one.

Shepard was for STs and was a significant upgrade over teddy williams. Saca saw two games of the guy starting at WR and decided he was the next Randy Moss.

*EDIT*

Still love you Saca

That's factually inaccurate.  He was signed primarily to help the special teams.  The hope was that he could also improve the wr group.  So far he has only earned the special teams money.

I’d trade a 2nd round pick for Josh Gordon

And you would be foolish and impulsive.  The only way I would even consider signing that guy is if his contact could be voided without ramifications to the cap if he has even the slightest of problems.  I would not even give a 7th round pick for the guy.  Way too much risk.

I am intrigued by five options in FA (three of which should be realistic).

1. Josh "Flash" Gordon

He is a real WR1---the only one more than likely. He has historical talent,  but also historical bust-ability. We have an extra third  (though no fourth), just saying.  I really don't think Cleveland will part with him.  I'd offer a fifth/sixth and see if they bite.  I'd test the waters.

A 5th or 6th? You give them a second. Hell I could be talked into a first. He’s potentially the best WR in the league.
