It's funny to see everyone beating the "needing guys to get open" drum so loudly. I don't think that was as big of an issue as needing guys who could make the catch.

hard to catch with dudes drapped all over you

They will most likely add another WR and pass catching TE rather than 2 wr's.

Who that will be is anybody's guess.  I will say I do not want Hurney selecting those guys.  I don't give a fug that he got lucky trading for Olsen.

But you told me last night that Hurney wouldn’t have any input on free agency and the draft.

This WR free agent class leaves a lot to be desired... Especially if/when Watkins gets tagged. Jags likely keep Robinson as well and if they don't I'm sure they keep Lee.

Wallace should be targeted as our deep threat. He still has that speed and tracking ability, will come relatively cheap, and if compare to us getting a Ginn, has done wayyyy better than Ginn did before he got Cam throwing to him. Wallace should be a no brainer.

Landry is basically McCaffrey without the running ability. Don't want him. J. Matthews is pretty terrible too.

Moncrief, Pryor and Richardson all theoretically have the upside to be options but they've underachieved recently and I wouldn't trust any of them until they proved it.

All depends on what some of these guys command but I would try to target Wallace and Robinson or Lee. Then grab a guy in the 2nd round this year too.

So do you risk drafting one or pick up a proven WR in free agency?

We have our developmental receiver. You see what our track record is of doing this. Window is closing for Cam, we make him happy and get a proven good receiver and not no dollar general poo. Some of you don't like Landry b/c he's dink and dunk but guess what? I'm fairly certain we had the least amount of deep ball plays this year and i don't really expect that to change. Landry would be perfect. Josh Gordon could spread the field that would come cheap since new owners may not be so against having someone with a negative background come in who's changed their life around. We need guys show can hold on to the ball and not kill drives. The Huddle is all about stay cheap and let's develop people. time for that is over. Benjamin had one good year here. Funchess is just now getting involved this year and that's been 3. There's no more time.

Actually, that makes zero sense.

Not going to trade a pick for a one year rental that’s on the wrong side of 30.

Band-aids at this position will not suffice any longer.

This is the whole Whitworth/Kalil argument again.

I’d gladly move a pick for Fitz. He’s still VERY productive and knows how to play the damn position.

We need talent first worry about age second. Cam isn’t playing forever

He won't and shouldn't.  But knowing Ron he just might have a weak moment and let Hurney whine his way into making a selection.  Don't do it Ron.

Ron has to win now so he won't leave his fate in the hands of Marty Hurney.

I am not a fan of breaking the bank either unless you have a HOF caliber guy that you are trying to keep rather than acquire in the free agent market. We obviously need to get healthy at WR and also add some much more legitimate options than we currently possess. The last few weeks we have been largely fielding guys that no one expected to see on the field in anything other than a special teams capacity.

Do we need to add more legitimate options or get healthy?  We should always look to improve the position in the offseason, but we traded our number 1 WR and lost two more to injury. Should we still have had guys that you would feel good about?  And we STILL had a chance to beat the Saints, who i think is one of the best teams right now.  This topic is about how big of a priority WR should be.  I'm just trying to argue that WR should never be at the top of that list.

Lol exactly what I mean. Hurney gonna weasel his way in on these decisions.

I’ve been begging for this franchise to go out and get a stud safety for years. They clean up so many deficiencies in the secondary. Maybe if Wilks leaves, a new coordinator will make that an emphasis. Here’s to hoping:thinking:

I'm all for trading some people/picks to Cleveland for one of their top five to take Darwin James. To have a franchise safety for the next ten years? Makes more sense than Hurney wasting picks on running backs. James is a once in a lifetime safety. Ronnie Lott level.
