Did you agree with the cutting of Ken Lucas?

I just looked at Ken's stats for this year. 20 tackles and 1 interception. Nothing outstanding, but not too bad. I know his performance last year was lackluster, but we all know the roller coaster performance of some players (Julius Peppers). Do you think the organization did the right thing in letting him go?

He wasn't worth nearly what we were paying him. But I do think Godfrey is the reason he no longer has a job. I have no idea why we didn't sign or trade for a vet last off-season and let Godfrey develop a or two. He has been a very big reason that our pass D has looked terrible since almost mid-way last season.

He wasn't worth what we were paying him. There were lots of times when Godfrey made him look bad, but there were plenty of times when he looked bad on all his own without any help. Lucas was a very physical guy that was good in run support, so I think it would have been interesting to see what he could do at FS.

Lucas played corner, not safety,so how Godfrey out played him as a safety makes since. If lucas was starting at safety, maybe Godfrey wouldn't have a job now.The bottom line was money. He had to big of a contract for what they were willing to have on the books at that spot for a player of his age and his skill set.He still is a good corner, but maybe needs to swap to safety with him losing a step ot two with his age

Understood, my only point was that maybe we should have tried him out at FS... but I understand why we would rather try to develop a younger guy.

After seing how awful Charles Godfrey is this year I'm definitely beginning to question that decision. We probably could have resigned him in a cap move. But Since we have Captain I guess it really doesn't matter. I like what I've seen from him so far. I sure hope Godfrey pulls his head out of his ass soon.

With Hurneys' decision to overpay Peppers by 10 million dollars there really never was a choice.

True. Not sure how I overlooked that. Maybe they could have given Jake a more reasonable contract and used some of that money. I doubt he's getting paid a lot in Seattle. Either way, its all a moot point. I feel pretty good about our secondary with the exception of Godfrey. And coaching. Hopefully both will improve soon.

I didn't like letting him go, but between Jake (overpaid), Smith (highly paid), Peppers (overpaid), Gross (highly paid), two highly paid RB's, and Gamble (highly/over paid), there was not much room for him.

Still like him as a player, and had we had a passrush, we would have figured out a way to keep him.
