  1. 1. So are you excited about Norv Turner becoming the Panthers OC?

    • Yes, he will automatically be the most prestigious Offensive Coordinator that the Panthers have ever had!
    • No, because I'm an idiot that thinks they know something about football but really doesn't.(I'm also secretly a Falcons fan)

I find it hard to get excited about a guy who's greatest success was around the end of the George Bush presidency.

he's had some really high scoring games with Minnesota the last few years. Now granted his teams overall PPG average was middle of the pack b/c his high offensive outputs were offset by some pretty shitty ones, but given Minnesota was never a high powered offense to begin with, and never had a franchise QB at the helm, I would say these are pretty good.

2016: 25, 24, 31 (OC for 7 games)

The idea of putting Cam in 7 drops/play action passing game seems absurd.  He is too big in the upperbody to run that type of play-action passing game because he can't get his head around  fast enough and set his feet to see the field.  This is a 250 pound man we are talking about. Furthermore, even the small QB's of this era are huge compared to win this type of system was in vogue. Most QB's are 225 and 6'4" at least.  They don't have the upper body dexterity to get their head around fast enough to see the field with the way today's cat quick DL get to the QB.  I personally would not like to see any QB Cam's size take snaps under center.  You are forcing a huge guy to make really inefficient movements.

Cam has never really had a quality offensive coaching staff around him since entering the league. Chud was ok but he was more interested in padding his head coaching resume then turning Cam into an elite passer. With Norv, he finally has the high level coaching he deserves.

Shula had some high scoring games this year, even with a group of wide receivers that might not make some college teams.  Like I said, I will give him the benefit of the doubt, but I would have liked to have some someone who might bring in a fresh perspective.

To be honest Yes I look forward to seeing what Norv Turner does with the offence. Yet I am a little cautious about being overly excited, I still remember how excited I was when the Panthers hired George Seifert thinking he would turn the team around.

The two good things about having Turner is that with his experence I don't think he will be a yes man to anyone and is someone the players will respect. While also having the past relationship with Rivera to be able to work with him without some conflect arising.

So I am hoping for the best and waiting to see.

Sorry but this is ridiculous ... funny poll and all but you guys are gonna be calling for this guy's head come week 8 next season.

Run up the middle on 1st down

Run to the left/right on 2nd down

Pass on 3rd down

Punt

Rinse

Rest

Repeat

the dude's system is olllllllllld. Be honest with yourself, do you TRULY believe this is the best OC for Cam and Company's future? Idk, yeah maybe better than Shula, but idk if he's the guy for this job.

All I know is, I want the Panthers to win the damn Super Bowl, that's it. I hope I eat my words, but I just don't see Norv Turner being the guy to help Cam get his ring.

Count me among those hoping that Turner and his son can fix Cam's mechanics first and foremost. That alone would be worth the change since Shula had no clue and Dorsey seemed to have no answers once Cam went off the rails. And let's not forget this will also be on Cam to work as hard as they should, looking at tape and trying to get more into a rhythm during games.

I'm excited Shula is gone let's just say that

What I'm not excited for is Scott as the QB coach. Norv could have been that. I'm wondering will the communication between Cam and Norv flow through Scott like it did with Dorsey. I think that's one if the reasons the communication failed on gamedays. Norv as Cam OC and QB coach allow it to be just them out there
