Hornets Trade Talk

Shocker

it just hit me that we are gunna be trading away Kemba before the deadline - the writing is on the wall.. AND that pisses me off way too much to stick with this team.. I'm bailing on them if that goes down..

you have done nothing as an organization to add actual players of worth - and when it finally becomes clear that what you have built is more like paper-mache - you are going to get rid of the ONLY player on a great contract, the ONLY player of value, the ONLY player that will sell tickets and put butts in the seats..

Wow.  It's brutal to read, but it's 100% true.  I don't care what anyone says - Michael Jordan has failed this franchise and this city.  Our coaching and our front office leadership (including himself) is among the worst in the league, and it shows on the court.  I understand that Charlotte is a small market which makes things infinitely more difficult, but there seems to be no effort to make moves that will improve this franchise long term.  Just like I would never trust Jerry Richardson, Marty Hurney or Ron Rivera to make the correct, tough decisions, I certainly don't trust Michael Jordan, Rich Cho and Steve Clifford to do so either.

You really think LA would get rid of Ingram? They would not even do a straight trade with Ingram for Walker.

Its a stretch I realize that.  They would be able to unload Clarkson for a similar salary (and MUCH better player) but still...I agree with you here.  Doubt they would give us Ingram and for that matter Randle's got 1 yr on his deal.  So yeah, I doubt it happens as well.

I do think they would consider Ball, Randle and Clarkson but I REALLY doubt we want to deal with LaVar.  We don't need that headache.

Knowing the LA Laker pride they probably want to unload salaries\problem children and fleece us of Kemba in the process but fug that.

You can talk about the salary cap and whatever else you want... but the NBA is a superstar driven league.

The very simple fact is, Kemba Walker is the one and only superstar the Hornets (or Bobcats) have EVER had since returning to Charlotte.  You could make the case for Dwight Howard if this were a decade ago.  And we DRAFTED him... which we NEVER do.  He is the only draft pick we've ever made that has really panned out.

Yep - lets trade him away to get a bunch of pieces that we can afford, and won't improve our roster one iota.

This poo is frustrating.

Totally get that but will he resign here?  Getting nothing for him later would totally kill us atp.  And not sure anyone would fault him for leaving Charlotte in free agency.  He has carried us and needs help.

Magic wont trade Ball. He would look foolish for taking him at number 2. If he does, it would be because of Lavar. And we would have to throw in Monk, maybe Frank, maybe MKG, and probably two 1st rounders.

I agree he probably wont trade Ball, or cant is more like it with his Dads ego.  The Lakers are trying to get in position to court LeBron and I think Ball vs Kemba in that scenerio is a no brainer.

At any rate about the only way the Hornets contend in the East is if Lebron goes West and we hit in the lottery.  Even then probably not, thats just the way the league is set up.

No chance the Lakers trade Ball. And certainly not Randle as well in return for Kemba.

Ok, so explain...Why wont they trade Ball?  If you think the Lakers would not trade Ball and Randle for Kemba you are crazy.

    • Fans are fed up with this organization's endless string of failures. And, while Morgan's less than a year into his current position, everything he's done is barreling down the same path shat out by his predecessor. If we're just pointing out this alarming lack of discrepancy between the performances of two GMs, it's really not hating. He's just proving to not be a good hire. And, hey, it's alright, because whoever Tepper hires next will, at best, only suck a little bit less. I don't mind people who are optimistic and hope Morgan turns out to be better than he's been thus far. That'd be great. None of us are rooting for him to fail. However, the embarrassing pattern of decisions persists. And it's not a good look.
    • You have to view everything that was done in 2024 through the ‘eliminate excuses for Bryce Young’ lens IMO. It only makes sense that way.     If you allow for that, you will see that Diontae fulfilled his purpose.
    • The Panthers' beat writer called the Johnson trade return "a warm bottle of RC Cola." If you're quick to discount every bit of news that disagrees with your view, maybe your view is the problem. Morgan deals himself a bad hand and he deserves every bit of criticism for it. Fitterer was the worst GM ever, but Morgan is a very similar brand of awful. Certainly when it comes to trades since 2021, Morgan's body of work makes him at best, only one of the worst negotiators in the history of North American professional sports. That's simply pointing out the numerous shortcomings he's put on display. If I point at a guy who shot someone and say "he murdered a guy," I'm not hating on him -- I'm pointing out what he did. If Morgan wants to not be labeled an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better, simply stop being an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better. Or, wait until Tepper makes him the fall guy after Evero.
