We HAVE to resign Norwell

Evryone complains about the pressure takes, and losing the guy that hasnt allowed his man to hit the QB is a priority.

I ser everyone talking about Bryant, Gordan, Robinson etc in these threads other.  But without a OL they dont get you anything

We let Norwell walk.  We're 1 injury away from a Matt Kalil, ?, Larsen OL.  Ryan is old and nissed 18 games the last 2 seasons, ao it is possibly he could go down with something else.  And we have no clue what that LG spot is, heck Moton couod turn out to be Amini at LG.  And the thought of a Matt Kalil, Amini level OG, and Tyler Larsen is a down right Frightening for this offense and a giant step backwards

It's tough. The Kalil's have a large cap number, Trai just signed a big money deal and we have to think about locking up Daryl Williams.

You see that it's just not feasible to retain Norwell on the mega deal that he has earned and other teams will offer.

Star wasn't doing a good job according to some of you here and now you want to keep him after you wanted him to be gone.

I don't think people want him gone in a perfect world. But,  if he expects a huge payday, he can go bye-bye.  His play has not lived up to expectations which makes him replaceable at a lower cost if he's set to break the bank.

Julius Peppers and Damiere Byrd.

We can’t afford to keep Star and if Norwell wants to be paid like a top guard (obviously he will) I don’t want us to sink all our money into two guards and a sh!tty LT.

Maybe Moton’s steps in for Norwell immediately and we use that money on upgrading the WR position and other needs.

We can afford both. Honestly with Stars comments I'm not sure he wants to be back. He basically said I played for the Panthers 5 years because I had to.

Gano retained by Hurney in favor of younger/cheaper Harrison Butker who had a fine year with the Chiefs. Once we overpay to retain Gano this will be the first Hurney move that starts the downhill spiral to the return to Cap Hell.

What would Gettleman have done? Hmmmmmmm....

Incidentally if Gano doesn't choke and miss an easy early game chip shot last week all we needed was a field goal at the end of the game to be in Minny right now.

I'd say let them both walk. I know that sounds insane, but we would get compensation from picks, and can save that cap for big free agent splash moves, and extending existing players on the team.

I'd have to see the long term impact on the cap for them to really justify this strategy, but we don't want to end like the raiders and cowboys, where we spend a sh*t load on the o line and zero on talent at the skills positions.

Everyone walks. fug it. Except Palardy. As much as I want Norwell to stay, Hurney is right. You don't overpay guards. We already overpaid Turner. Plug in Larsen, draft one in the 3rd/4th to eventually replace Kalil and spend the money elsewhere.

I think we're re-signing Derek Anderson once again. Not many quality backups like him available.

Wouldn’t really call him a “quality” back-up, dude has shown nothing that proves he can step in for Cam and even be somewhat productive.

I would consider norwell a big FA splash.  Compensation picks don’t float my boat when you ignore a need.

Interesting perspective though.

When I mentioned FA splash I am referring to grabbing a big market name for a key role like DE,WR,DB, or RB (because thats what people notice). I don't think we can say guard is a position of need, considering the depth we have at that position. Putting millions into both guard positon, is just one injury from another year of being thin on talent.

Compensation picks soften the blow. We'd easily be able to snag another starter with a comp pick for Norwell or Star

Having a great offensive line is definitely a luxury, but losing norwell wouldn't necessarily make us average.
