With new ownership will we finally stop this whole only drafting choirboy thing?

Character matters.  Picks are big investments.  These players represent the team year round, 24-7--not just when they are on the field.  Can you win with people who have little self discipline?  Not often, regardless of how good they were in college when they weren't millionaires and under the microscope.  When the pressure rises and the heat gets turned up, you want a solid human being on your team, one that knows how to make good choices and see the big picture.  It matters.  This is not Madden.

Exactly, and people act like we can’t just released, trade, etc a player if he can’t get his act together with minimum repercussion

The problem is you don't know what the repercussion might be when you bring them in.  It could be much more than minimum.

I need examples of cases where this has hurt a football club. Raiders and dolphins made some pretty risky moves on guys in the 1st recently, although that’s way too risky for my blood, both have recieved very little blow back

Never had a problem with drafting decent young men with a clean record. At the end of the day we watch the NFL to be entertained but these guys are role models for our children and communities. They get paid significantly more than the average human being for having god given talents that 99% of us don’t possess and the least they can do is not be a fug up.

Plus its good business. You wanna pay a guy to have him sit at home (i.e Greg Hardy 2014) while we have to let someone of value walk with the money you paid the other guy?

Only if Americans could hold Politicians to this standard.

I say resign Hardy!

Remember all those games where the Cowboys really could have used Ezekiel Elliott this year?

The Cowboys also once had a star player play in a playoff game high on coke (they lost).

The Raiders and Bengals both had important starters not show up for Super Bowls because they were drugged up or hung over. Both lost.

There are plenty of stories of varying degree. But basically, every single time one of these guys is suspended, they're letting their teammates down.

Yea but similar to Hardy, 6th round pick and we never ended up wasting a boat load a money on him...calculated moves yup.

But more specific for me would be the guys who play on the edge on the field not so much off the field...like the Mike Mitchells and such.

I agree to an extent, zekes situation was quite weird, and some pf these guys develop thrse issues after being drafted.

Due diligence, not like jacksonville who scouted blackmon and noted how he spent the entire day at a bar and still drfted him, that is dumbassery at its finest. Regardless this shouldn’t be considered until later rounds

Winning NFL games is difficult enough as it is. If, on top of all the other obstacles that exist, you put yourself in the position of having to depend on somebody who at any moment might do something idiotic and get himself suspended, you're gambling with several million dollars.

It's not worth it.

Funny how the owner might have done some of the same poo..smh..

There's no indication that Richardson beat up or sexually assaulted anybody. The man is in his 80s for crying out loud.

Richardson is a creepy old man for sure, but not a wife beater or a rapist. And if you're trying to use will Richardson dead to justify signing someone who is one of those things, that's a stupid argument.
