Kurt Warner talks about Norv as OC in Carolina

On NFLN talking about the possibility of Norv being hired as OC...

Says Norv has never had to mold his scheme around a qb like Cam, has always worked well with drop back, immobile passers.

Said it would be interesting to see what our running game would look like under Norv.

Didnt seem too excited about the possibility, wouldn’t say one way or the other whether he thought it would be a good fit

Is Norv Turner a huge upgrade over Shula? Yes. /thread

Not saying if Norv is the answer or not, but at least can we interview some other people at least?

If Shula is as bad as most of the people here say, then anyone technically would be better than Shula.

Didn’t Norv have Teddy Bridgewater as a QB when he was in Minny?

Teddy isn't what I would call a mobile QB.

I agree with what some others have said, we need someone with a system like Shanahan that employs bootlegs and zone blocking that utilizes Cam and Cmc skill set even more.

I really think people are overreacting to this sentiment that Norv Turner runs some ultra conservative offense like Jeff Davidson.

If Ron hires him, he's going to run a far more controlled version of what Chud ran. More emphasis on the running game.

Turner's offense puts a major emphasis on scat backs and tight ends, and is super QB friendly.

Most recently, his schemes with a young and inexperienced Bridgewater in Minny were solid and successful, and honestly that's all we really need given the strength of the defense...

Sorry we're not going to run a Chip Kelly offense. On top of the fact that it just isn't who RR is, those schemes just simply aren't innovative for long...NFL teams catch up to them on film over time.

Who is Kurt Warner? He hates the Panthers and never says anything positive about them.

a douche who's still butthurt that Peppers broke his arm back in 07 when he tried to dive on a fumble. i was at the game in AZ when it happened and he acted like a little bitch when it happened

God damn it. Cam Newton is a drop back passer. He just happens to be the most athletic QB in the game and can run when he damn well feels like it’s the best play.

which happens to be quite often in this system bc by the time the line breaks down the receivers are still developing their routes in the 4th row

    • Bryce did play the best game of his career but it isn't an anomaly as much as a progression in his understanding of the game and ability to translate what he knows to performance on the field. Dalton really helped him see what it takes to throw in NFL sized windows and he is letting it go trusting what he sees. I am enjoying his progress and really appreciating how Canales is bringing him along.
    • Here is where I'm at.  Young had his best day as a pro.  He kept us in the game and didn't lose it for us. GREAT! However, that stat line is a mediocre game for the average NFL QB and this is his best game to date. I'm happy for him to keep playing better, especially if it keeps out of the QB conversation on day 1 in April.  I simply think his ceiling is career backup or low end starter.
