This fan base has fallen off a cliff when it comes to this Norv Turner hatred

We did not run a bastardized version of the Coryell system. We used play action and vertical passing routes mixed with the spread offense using zone read concepts. There is no pure system anymore and Turner would be wise to incorporate some of what we did under Shula along with what his offenses did best. To believe we need to go back to a pure Coryell system would be a mistake given how defenses have changed over the years.

No. I asked you to name another situation where an offense relied on a QB to perform at a high level as a passer while also utilizing designed runs as a primary ball carrier the number of times we have asked Cam to.

The fact that you were unable to differentiate between the burden we have put on Cam and what say, Atlanta did with Michael Vick, tells me all I need to know about your football accumen.

Seriously,

You obviously want to nitpik which is what folks do when they have little to add or say. And honestly I have forgotten more about football than you will ever know and given your posts you present a pretty low bar to surpass.

I don't have anything against Turner and will keep an open mind. I just think he needs to listen to his relatives who are already on staff and put his stamp on things without going back to his old system which could set Cam back a year or two as it does many quarterbacks who have to.learn new systems.

I see no reason why he wouldn't keep an open mind. If I know one thing about football families they talk football, a lot. I suspect he has an ongoing knowledge of this team and it's offensive trials and tribulations...He definitely will not be walking in cold turkey...man this gets more and more exciting as we hash out it out.

But Turner has not run anything but a mainly Coryell system because he hasn't had to change systems or morph them to account for unique talent. The question is how well will he try and adapt to Cam or make Cam adapt to his system. Which old dog will have to learn new tricks?

so he only knows one system and is stuck in that system? No it's football and like i said nothing here is going to catch him by surprise ...you only get to be an old dog in this league if you do learn some new tricks...

it's Norv turner so yes he is better than Shula plus...it's Norv turner...no low expectations here

That is ignorant to express an opinion with no basis based on a prejudiced attitude. Turner has done nothing to prove he is better running our system here. No one will know if he is better or worse until bullets are flying in the Fall.

I don't think they have the time or money it would take to get the players they will need to go full Norv.  My guess is they think he can work with what we have with adding a few more prices.

It's a bold move Cotton, let's hope they pull it off.

I suspect he already knows what we run and is okay with it. After all he has relatives with insider knowledge and likely has been talking at length with them to decide if he wants the job. But no we aren't going to change players wholesale. GMs can't just snap their fingers and have franchise players magically appear in the draft or free agency.

he walks in the door better ...his career and body of work show that. And when it happens I wont piss it in your face. Keep in touch though.

but they can magically snap their fingers and fill positions of need to the point that the system in place works as designed...there are players out there that we can get that can make us a whole lot better going into next season...
