This fan base has fallen off a cliff when it comes to this Norv Turner hatred

Sure, but it was just like Sean Payton in NO, Andy Reid in KC or McCarthy in Green Bay. The head coach is running the offense, OC is a glorified messenger boy.

That's not really true....Just depends on coach and coordinator. In a few cases sure. But there's no way you're going to convince me that Ron Rivera will be calling offensive plays over Norv Turner.

I think Turner has a good opportunity in Carolina because the circumstances for success are good. He and Ron have similar philosophies, he has family members on staff who know the offense. And if Scott comes here, it will be all in the family.  As long as they all get along we should be good. I hope he is amazing here and as a Panther fan why would you wish for anything else. The Panthers have turned the page and so will I. In with the new regime and our with the old. If Wilks go as well we will get to see the next iteration of our offense and defense. I hope they arr fantastic. I really don't want to have to wait another decade for us to get back to the Super Bowl like the last time.

Hey there brainiac, it’s worth reminding you that Cam is the sole reason Chud got a head coaching job in the first place (which he absolutely failed at and is currently looking for a job). But yeah I tell you what! That Cam Newton is an OC killer!

LOL at you basically saying Cam got Shula fired. Bahahaha. If anything, Cam is the sole reason Shula was hired in the first place...because you’d have to be a complete moron to fail at having a luxury like Cam Newton to work with, but lo and behold, here we are. A trained monkey could have done a better job than Shula when it came down to it.

Shula won’t even sniff another OC position in the league, but yeah, that’s Cams fault.

Dude.....Don't take it so personal. It's just one guy with an opinion.....Most people would disagree with him for sure.

That's my point. In those specific cases I mentioned, as well as Norv in San Diego, the head coach was calling the plays and the defacto offensive coordinator. Obviously that won't be the case here.

That's basically where I am....

I almost don't want to think about it too much and just wait to see what it looks like first hand.

Gotcha......No, will not be the case. Norv will have full reign of offense.

Can you really blame people? The guy has never had consistent success regardless of where he has gone.

People have pointed to the fact that Turner hasn't coached a top 15 offense since 2011; and the only argument that can be provided is that he hasn't gotten to work with the type of personnel the Panthers have. That is correct, what's also correct is that he worked with a Charger's team that had much better players than are on our current roster. How you do not win a Super Bowl with Rivers, Tomlinson, Turner, Sproles, Neal, Jackson, Floyd, Chambers, McNeill, Dielman, etc. is beyond me... I mean that offense was stacked. He took an identical team that went 14-2 the year before and wound up lucky to make the playoffs.

This is a fan base that lambasted Shula for playing conservative and wants to replace him with a guy that is notorious for settling for three points. A guy that settled for three with 10 seconds left on the clock when his team had the ball inside the 10 yard line.

We're talking about a guy who was quoted as saying the following, “It’s a good play, there’s no reason to check out of it" when Dwight Freeney beat MATT KALIL in 2015 to sack Bridgewater (and force a fumble) to end the game (when the Vikings were already in field goal range) after Turner's crossing route play took FOREVER to develop.

Now I'm not totally against Turner, but he certainly isn't my top choice but it would be foolish to not explore other options.

Regarding that quote, sounds like  a coach protecting his QB, who SHOULD have checked out of the play, but didn't. Which, if that is the case, is a good thing.

Folks in this fanbase think we are entitled to yank Sean McVay from LA and demote him to offensive coordinator.

Truer words have never been spoken.  They will not be happy until Cam is calling his own plays and will still be the OC fault.

I'm less concerned about Norv than I am about the nepotism involved with filling the staff with his relatives. I think Norv himself is a great hire, but I have no idea about his son's qualifications to take over for Dorsey as position coach. That might have been a condition of his return regardless of location, as we certainly weren't the only ones interested, but it's a weird dynamic.  there's nothing quite like the NFL's incestuous coaching structure. Hell, we just unburdened ourselves of one such dud that had his path in coaching carved this way.
