Is this where a new stadium will be built

When concord can hold race events with FAR more people than any football stadium will hold and Carolina Rebellion can come in each year and host 100k people I don’t see what the NFL can bitch about in regards to a ~70k seat stadium and “not having enough hotel space.” That area could EASILY handle a super bowl

Transportation need will be another issue. Charlotte Douglas is midsize airport. There is a armada of planes that come in for the Superbowl.

Charlotte Douglas is one of the busiest airports in the country. I think it could handle a super bowl

When St. Paul hosted the 2008 Republican Convention, 45,000 people came to the Twin Cities. Last summer, the Ryder Cup brought in 250,000 people to Chaska. Earlier this year, 35,000 people visited Minneapolis for the X-Games.

All of those events will be dwarfed by the Super Bowl, when organizers estimate 1 million people will flock to the Twin Cities for the game and the 10 days leading up to it.

Concord is a home race for most race team and NASCAR airforce isn't even close to the size of Superbowl traffic.

As far as accommodations alot of people camp out for the races.  Can't see people doing that in February.

CHarlotte is a class B airport, which means it ranks up there with other big city airports. They have plenty of infrastructure to handle a Super Bowl.

Usually 1100 extra aircraft fly into the Superbowl city and 1 million people come to town over the week.

Yes Charlotte could probably handle the commercial flights but not both commercial and general aviation. If they built the stadium in sc what other airport could they use as a reliever airport?

I have been flying for 5+ years around N.C. I can tell you Charlotte can easily handle any type of traffic coming in. All airports (including Charlotte) have procedures that I will not bore you with that help simiplify arrival/departing aircraft be it commercial or general aviation.

I'm not going to insult your intelligence I will just give you the facts.

1. Charlotte airport is currently the 6th busiest airport in the US. Which is good but also bad as it doesn't have much flexibility for extra flights.  Most host cities have secondary airports which you could argue Concord could handle the corporate jets but if they move the stadium to Fort Mills wouldn't help.  So Charlotte Douglas would have to handle all the planes. Which leads to ramp space issues.

2. Charlotte is bad for ice storms in February.  You being a pilot you should know how that will snarl traffic.  In case you don't remember. Here is what happened in Atlanta in 2000.  That was a major issue and the NFL only just recently granted Atlanta a new Superbowl.  They better pray for no ice.

3.  Charlotte has improved access in and out of the airport finally. But you still don't have the rail system connecting it and traffic still gets bottleneck picking up and dropping off passengers.

I have done many flights to Super bowls before I dealt with the Atlanta ice storms and flights not being able to arrive and depart.  A secondary airport is a must and if the team is playing in SC then you don't have one close by.

ATC can handle the traffic they are old pros at that.  But Charlotte infrastructure is still 10 years away and if they move to sc 20 years away.
