If new owner wants a new stadium would you be mad if it’s not uptown?

So what?...I could care less if the super bowl ever came here...especially after reading the demands that the nfl arrogantly puts on the host cities

I just want to win it, let the nfl take their traveling sideshow to Tampa it ATL or New Orleans and let those people deal with it

Well if you read what I was commenting on, you would know the comment was based on the omission of the Los Angeles stadium being built.

I'm guessing an obvious short-term windfall for the local economy but soon after it'll feel no different. I can think of stadia which have held Superbowls, Wrestlemanias, sporting events with the eyes of the world watching, but those stadiums are long-gone or cities forgotten. How I would've loved to have visited the Astrodome or Memphis Pyramid.

I got to go in the pyramid a few times when I was younger, it was cool as hell

I would hate it.  Charlotte has a great uptown area where people live, shop, etc.  It's not like Atlanta's downtown that is completely abandoned at night.

I mean didn't the damn CLT Coliseum get abandoned because of the location?

And yeah, a dome would be just too much like colleges wearing black.  It's just trendy without reason. The established franchises don't need that foolishness: NE, Pitt, Chicago, Green Bay, etc.  All with weather much worse than Charlotte.

This stadium race has gotten ridiculous.  At some point the bubble has to burst, right?

Awful idea. I lived in DC for a couple of years and I've been to the Giants stadium in East Rutherford as well. Both are annoying to get to and there is nothing of note around them.  Do not underestimate the convenience of being able to just walk to bars and restaurants or whatever around games. You think public transportation to and from BOA is bad, how many of you in Charlotte have tried ubering to Carowinds.

Isn't the idea is to build around the stadium?

The new Stadium that the Falcons play in is probably the nicest sports arena I have ever been to. You can have indoor or outdoor, depending on weather. This makes for year round revenue which is good for the owners/economy.

If I was in charge of this, I would try to stay as close to uptown as possible.  I would also build up the surrounding area line Suntrust Park or Fenway is built up. Tons of bars/restaurants to go before/after the game.

As someone who travels to Charlotte for games, I’m not hat impressed with the logistics of getting in/around uptown. Also the things to do (Bars/restaurants) is very spread out. There are some good tailgate lots however.

I’d say plan to move the stadium in 5-7 years. BOA is/will continue to age Out during this time.
