If new owner wants a new stadium would you be mad if it’s not uptown?

I'd rather they just use the bones of the current stadium and renovate if they want to. It's not like BOA is a dinosaur or anything, they just did a bunch of renovations like 3 years ago and fan's aren't overflowing the seating. And what is with the need for a dome in one of the best weather states in the US? Seems like overkill and a waste of taxpayer dollars IMO.

NE, GB, the NY teams, Pittsburgh, Philly, Redskins, Chicago, KC, Miami, all play outside

That is how football is meant to be played

thats some NFL royalty there

the weather is part of the game and drama and toughness

i don't need a shopping mall. I need a tough hard nosed winning football team

if Sabates and the rest want more luxury boxes, they best do a study on if there is even a market for them and how many existing PSL owners will continue to pony up money for it. I know I won't. I'm at my limit right now

Agreed I won't buy new psls either. The parking for a game at BOA is unique. There are lots of little lots where you can find shade grass and a great tailgating experience. Lets trade that in for a large expanse of asphalt or a parking deck so the owner can make money verses small businesses renting out their lots.

Spending billions to have a slightly less slim chance of hosting one, at most, SB is the height of idiocy.  So is building a new stadium when the old ones doing just fine.  If the local media is pushing this, its because its big money backers are telling them to.  Thats how every media fueled agenda gets started.

Usually a deal is made with the NFL prior to the building of a new stadium to have them host the SB.  So I don't think a new stadium would ever be built without the guarantee of hosting a Superbowl.

Is BOA outdated? To football fans, No! It is a great open air bowl experience.

However from a business perspective it is close to or already outdated. No profit from parking, no on field suites, and no chance of hosting certain events with an open air venue. (SB, Final 4, College National Championship, Wrestle-mania).  Most money a stadium brings in is from club and suite level, so it will come down to how many suites they can sell, and how much they can make on new club level PSL's.

You also have to take in account that at the earliest this new stadium will open, then BOA Stadium will be at least 27 years old, at that point it will be about time for a new stadium.  Especially considering during that time period the Raiders, Rams, Chargers, with the possibility of a new Bills and or Redskins stadium opening around the same season our new venue would open.

It will come down to this, do we want to keep the NFL here? As part of the democratic process, and taxpayers we have a say in that.  SD and St. Louis chose to not spend that $, which was their right, it was also the NFL's right to relocate the team to city that was willing to pay for them to be there.

Before you get upset about leaving an empty BOA behind, as we move outside city for a top notch facility, also think about what your feelings will be when that Stadium is empty, and the team has moved to another state.

At the end of the day, all I want is an owner who wants the Panthers to win a SB as bad was we on the huddle want them to.  If that means my taxes go up, and we have to move into a gorgeous new stadium then I am willing to make that sacrifice.  What about you guys?

And by then, it wouldn't surprise me a bit, if the NFL changed the SB format.

Minny

Miami

LV

NO

Houston

and start over again with Minny, or something to that effect.

LA is about to open the most expensive stadium in history in 2020. Don't be surprised when they start hosting multiple super bowls in the 2020's and if the city gets the NFL Draft permanently.

Agreed.  There it just too much uncertainty with spending $1.5B hoping you get all of these things...and I'm 100% against any taxpayer involvement.

This post needs to be stickied because it is the clearest statement about our stadium and a dome that can be said.  It is accurate and concise.  Would pie 2x if I could.

Thanks bud, it comes from the heart! lol

Thanks Panther bro!  The sad truth is the vocal majority (and psl majority) are the 500 level fans and most 100 level fans.  They outnumber the club fans but are out spent 5-1 maybe 10-1 maybe more!  The short term of this team is 100% BOA but the long term of this team unfortunatley will be a business decision that tends to conflict with football fans since it is a business first.   here is to hoping a middle ground can be reached.

Huge parking lots only make it worse logistically for fans unless it's done correctly. Anyone who has been to FedEx Field and sat through that poo show can attest to that. I still don't know why someone decided to build that stadium in a suburban neighborhood.

Unless they are building a parking lot similar to PNC Arena's then the parking issue is in fact not solved.

Personally I don't think there is a parking issue to begin with. I don't mind parking 15 blocks away and walking through uptown, it's a neat experience and to my knowledge most people enjoy it as well.

Felix Sabates and his coup are just looking to find an extra way to make a buck. Richardson assualted his employees and now Sabates and the new owners are going to assault the fans.

It's coming full circle.

I have an honest legit question. I am not from Charlotte nor live there... However...

What is the Possibility of building Parking a few miles away.... and use a Light rail system to shuttle people to the stadium? That seems a lot cheaper, efficient, and can still keep the stadium in uptown.

    • Just had Thanksgiving meal with a couple dozen family and friends. I lucked out and got one of the smoked turkey legs. Stuffing, mashed taters and gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, kale, smoked ham, chicken and rice, corn, lima beans, cranberry sauce, and great people. My brother got his guitar out and we got to singing. Lots of actual conversations with people I hardly  ever get to see, haven't seen in a while, or who I never met before. Just a great moment to remember.
    • 3-8 would be a higher win percentage than 3-9
    • Same... With the personnel the Niners had, that defense could have been historically good in the right hands. Under Wilks they were certainly good, they didn't quite rise to that level. Honestly, I see Wilks kinda like I see Rivera: fantastic person, decent head coach. Skill wise, phenomenal DB coach, so-so DC. His greatest strength is his leadership. Hard to find many better in that department. In the Xs and Os / execution area though, not as good. Bottom Line: Wilks is the sort of coach that needs a staff that excels in those aspects of the game where he's weaker. But, like Rivera, I don't know that he scouts assistants very well. That as much as anything might be why he's not in the NFL now.
