Panthers will interview Norv Turner

Yeah as an offensive coordinator for the Cowboys...2 super bowl wins. 52 points in the first one on the board.

At least there's that. And possibly better at calling in plays quickly so we don't waste timeouts? And maybe slightly better play designer?

If this team was a few calls away from heading to Minnesota, where they had a chance to win and then also a chance to head to the Super bowl this year with Shula, can Turner be worse??

Also want to point out, this team lost 6 games, 5 of those games were against 3 of the NFCs final 4 teams.

And that's with Shula.

Yea once again have to reiterate...It's the Huddle most of these people dont' watch the NFL just the Panthers.

This isn't anything close to the hiring of Shula situation.

fugin Norv Turner is a 2X SB champion and has had success at the highest level in this league. Shula isn't even a poo stain on his old draws.

No matter what people think of him as an OC, he has proven to be a much better situational play caller than Shula.  And the fact that he has worked and had success with multi-purpose RB's means we can expect him to maximize what CMC does.  They can argue whether or not there are better options out there, but you just can't take anyone serious that is comparing him to Shula.

from wiki ... doesn't this sound familiar

Turner had one year remaining on his contract, and left with a 59–43 in his six-year stint with the Chargers.[9] He had the support of the players' through the end of his tenure, and received a standing ovation in his final meeting with them after being fired.[9][21] San Diego never made the Super Bowl under Turner despite having what was perceived as one of the league's most talented rosters

As far as play design and scheme it will be like night and day between Turner and Shula. It's not even a real comparison in terms of football knowledge.

What concerns me is if Norv will actually turn things around the way some are expecting. People who aren't familiar don't realize just how much he underachieved with a ridiculously talented roster in San Diego. LT was an absolute monster, and somehow they never even sniffed the Super Bowl with Norv at the helm. Pairing this guy with someone like Ron who has had his own share of underachieving over the years could either be a disaster or it could actually work, who knows.

SB Champ isn't a loser but hot takes are expected on the Huddle.

He had talent on that team obviously and has it here....his previous 4 season that the dood quoted was The Browns and Vikings. Vikings with Kalil at LT doh.

If you watch that video that MJ posted, you'll hear him talking about how he regrets that they didn't surround Philip Rivers with more talent.

He won't be the HC though....only worried about the offense.

Cam is better than Rivers too.

NO it don't...we made the SB with no WRs....so we can improve upon a SB core....how you gonna link some poo saying it sounds familiar in bold when that bolded says they never made the SB and we did and won the division 3 straight times.....

He was the HC there not just OC...he'll only have the offense.....

You realize that Norv was LaDanian Tomlinson's coach, right?  Darren Sproles' too when he was lighting it up for the Chargers.  He knows how to use a back with McCaffrey's particular set of skills.

Bro anytime you got to bring up a player who no longer plays should tell you how bad he has been since then. The game has passed Turner by. The NFL no longer plays his type of football.

The NFL is cyclical.

Everybody starts going with power on offense. Teams build their defenses to counter power.

With everyone built to defend against power, somebody changes their offense to emphasize speed. Nobody is prepared for it so it works.

Once speed starts working, everybody else copies it. Teams then start building defenses to counter speed.

With all the defenses set to counter speed, someone changes their offense to emphasize power, and here we go again.

sure we made it to the Superbowl, but in all the years Shula was our offensive coordinator, we had some really talented teams, both offensively and defensively. The general notion on this board was Shula wasn't using his personnel to their strengths, which essentially is a mismanagement of talent.
