Norv would be good for Cam.

There is 1 rather large flaw in Cam's game right now.  Footwork and Mechanics.

Those two things are the reason Cam is so up and down as a passer (in addition to Shula and the surrounding cast).  Cam isn't missing very much as a passer...but that is something that can be cleaned up.

Agreed.

A lot predict Norv because that’s come out over the last few years.

if we don’t hear that Norvs hired in the next 24 hours then I think the rumors are jumping the gun too fast—

if he’s not in 24 hours then we are going to interview others, possibly from the playoff teams after this weekend or after the Super Bowl even.

Doesn't sound like he blamed Newton, but it did sound like he thinks he needs better coaching.

And for context, players are almost never happy about coaches being fired, regardless of whether they were good or not.

You can't talk about footwork and mechanics in a vacuum. We aren't talking about your average QB here. You have to account for what Cam does on the field, it's quite the workload. You can't expect him to carry the run game in one breath, and then flip out over his mechanics and footwork the next. Shore up the OL, bring in a seasoned QB coach, bring in a new OC capable of actual innovation, and get some real production out of the run game that doesn't revolve around using Cam as a battering ram all the time. If we can address most of this I think we will see improvement from Cam in the passing game provided the WR's can actually haul in passes placed in their hands.

If the OC is Turner, I kinda doubt we're talking about "innovation".

The more likely goal there is to get Turner to coach Newton up to be a traditional QB; one who can run, but primarily passes.

Yea Cam being upset about losing a coach means nothing. Regardless of what all of those old white people on ESPN and NFL comments say he's not like that and doesn't throw coaches under the bus.(I mean it's clear the facebook profiles just look, not trying to keep beating a dead race horse here)

Yea, innovation ain't happening I don't think.

I agree with you, however, the mechanics and footwork can be cleaned up...maybe not if we're asking Cam to rush for 60+ a game, but they can be cleaned up.

My guess, Ron is tired of Cam having to bail us out, knowing it risks injury and a shortened Cam career...and is ready to get someone in here who doesn't have to rely on Cams athleticism to have a decent NFL offense.

Basically, turning Newton into a traditional QB, while also doing a better job as an OC.

Side Note: I think we have to consider the possibility that Rivera may want Norv to be the QB Coach and someone else be the OC.

I am imagining Phillip Rivers with some called run plays.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Norvs good teams have good down the field passing? That seems right in line with Cam.

Frankly, this is what the goal should be. First needs to start with building a rushing offense that doesn't "run"  through Cam's legs. Sustain the run game with McCaffrey and Stew (or other, younger and better, power back) and build a traditional passing threat, and THEN add in Cam's rushing ability on scrambles or play sprinkled in here or there. This will make our offense significantly better, and make Cam's career longer. I don't want our god damn QB getting hit more than every other QB in the league by far -- I think, not 100% sure, but I think Cam has already been hit more in his short career than Brady has been hit in his entire career... Even if it's not quite that much, it's damn close. Way closer than it should be. Huge problem we've had for Cam's entire career. There are other "dual-threat" QBs too who don't take nearly as many hits--because they don't have terrible coaches who just rely on the QB to do it all.
