Replacement Possibilities

Mr. Scot

I'll be honest, I don't know much about the qualifications of any of these guys to deem them better than Shula.  Even if I did know their qualifications I'm still not sure I would know enough to declare they are better than Shula. I'll wait to see it on the field.  That's the  only real/qualitative/quantitative test I can give anyone.  Show me on Sunday...don't show me on the chalkboard.

Source close to situation says to expect a veteran hire by Panthers for offensive coordinator vacancy.

That cuts out most of the internal possibilities except for Ron Turner.

good bet it’ll be someone Ron has worked with before and/or knows well

Says a lot for Wade Wilson

Don't have time right now to go too in-depth, but here are some options

QB COACH

Wade Wilson - most obvious choice, has history with Rivera and Ron Turner from Chicago; could also be an OC option

Cameron Turner - current assistant QB coach, Ron Rurner's son, Norv's nephew

Scott Turner - Norv's son and a previous Panther assistant under Rivera; could be an OC option but hasn't done that before

Jon Kitna - currently getting a look from the Bengals as their QB coach, so unlikely

Cam Cameron - has NFL history (not with Rivera that I know of); has been an effective OC before ; recently let go by LSU

Brad Childress - old Rivera colleague, reputed to be an a--hole ; says he's retiring

Geep Chryst - was with the Panthers before; was coaching with the Bears when Rivera was a player

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR

Norv Turner - Rivera considers him a close friend and mentor from their Charger days

Brian Schottenheimer - has been around, most recently Colts QB coach; also a QB coach option

Rob Chudzinski - it's possible

Mike McCoy - previous Panthers experience but not with Rivera

Joe Philbin - seems more likely to return to Green Bay

Eric Bienemy - is in contention for other OC jobs already

Edgar Bennett - played against Rivera as a player if I remember correctly

Jim Caldwell - possible but no history with Rivera that I know of

Ken Zampese - interviewed with Rivera once before, if I recall correctly, his dad was Norv's mentor

John Matsko - already listed as run game coordinator

Jeremy Bates - Jets QB coach

John DeFilippo - Eagles QB coach, getting head coaching looks already

Frank Reich - if the Eagles were to promote DeFilippo, Reich could be out

Greg Roman - Panthers history but just re-signed with Baltimore as TE coach

Jim Skipper - has been an OC and assistant head coach before

Wish I knew what Ken Whisenhunt's contract status is with the Chargers.

Norv Turner / his relatives or Chud!

I feel it’s a MUST to get someone outside the organization.
