For those pleading for speed at the WR position

A lot of the "what have you done for me lately" crowd in here. Everyone forgets what Fun Fun did right after KB was traded. All they remember is the past few games when he had a bum ankle and shoulder and STILL toughed it out. Those injuries would have diminished the production of any WR in the NFL. I think a healthy trio of Funchess, Samuel and Byrd can be deadly after another training camp.

Samuel was literally hurt off and on since he showed up for OTAs. I have no faith in him at this point.

Byrd pretty much the same durability issue question mark surrounding him.

Both these guys need to be on our roster, but we cannot put any stock into them being the answer at WR.

We have to improve our talent level there.

As sad as it may sound, I have to agree. Its not a good sign you're injured your entire 1st year being in the NFL. Byrd smaller frame makes him injury prone.

We can't settle with them, I'm sorry

I really wish I could say “thank god some of you aren’t in charge” but you might as well be given the bs you guys and this organization comes up with for not addressing the WR position.

Zero superbowls. Zero.

We both know that there will be no big free agency signing at WR to take us to the next level, it makes to much sense to happen.... sadly

Swapping Ted Ginn for Russell Shepard was probably one of the biggest offseason blunders to date. Ginn's speed would have prevented teams from stacking the box against us time after time. Thanks Gettleman.

I hate Ginn....hate him.  He drops over half his catches when he's here, couldn't catch a cold.  Then he goes to a division rival and pulls his head out of his ass.  fug him.

Well at this point, you want to rely on WRs who have been injured off and on all season. Just because they get a new season next year doesn't mean they'll be healthy. Samuel in particular im very doubtful about because hes had some kind of injury literally all pre season and regular season last year. And Byrd is both short and very slight, i dont have much faith in his durability as well.

We absolutely need a proven free agent WR. Doesnt have to be a gamebreaker, but should be someone with very good hands, knows how to get open, and has better than average size. So we dont get stuck in the same exact debacle next season b/c our tiny injury prone speed guys couldnt stay healthy again.

DT was our biggest need when we drafted Star.

Star was the BPA at a position of need. He was also the BPA in the whole draft as some projected him to go number 1 in the draft before the medical concerns. Gettleman for example later drafted 3 corners who were not BPAs in the draft but the best corner he could find at the time he picked. This was okay with Bradberry and not terrible with Worley as they were still relatively high picks but look at Sanchez. Sure you aren't going to fill a roster with guys you don't need but reaching for a player at a particular position because you need them is a sure fire plan for disaster.

Resting on laurels doesn't work.  You get better or you get worse.  Can't bank on guys who thus far have shown low availability and a small sample size of production.  This is coming from a huge Byrd fan.

EXACTLY.  Not only were Byrd and Samuel injured for most of last season, but they also NEVER established themselves as deep threats  or anything more than decent WRs. Youre going to get burned for the umpteenth time if you go into next season with the same roster and you're expecting different results.

The time is now. We can't wait for a second round injury plagued speedy receiver to come around or a seventh round pick or UDFA whatever Byrd was to somehow emerge. fug patience. Go get Landry, or hell at least go get Ginn back. We need veteran presence and not be cheap. I have a feeling with new ownership, we're going to see an exciting offseason that isn't typical Big Cat Conservative bullshit.
