It's not the contract size that I had problems with from Hurney, it was the structure...and our inability to shed a contract if the play drops, or he is injured.

While I didn't love the Kalil signing, at least DG put us in a position to be able to cut him after 2 seasons...that takes being able to pay him up front, something that Hurney never could do, as he was always in cap hell.

I can remember all these posters on this board claiming "hurneymagic", and seeing the "i got this gif with Hurney and sunglasses" every time we sighed an extension or FA....those posters never looked at the longterm cap implications...and seemingly neither did Hurney.

Oh there were definitely some guys on our line that were very good. The unit itself did not perform very well, however.

1. Hurney wants to improve roster, but not take away from strengths.
2. Marty Hurney would like to add some speed to the Panthers' receiving corps and talent to the secondary, but not if it means taking away from the consistency in the trenches.

I just hope he don't go contract crazy he has done before and put us back into cap hell.

Any more insight on this? Did it sound like they were going to make a effort to sign or franchise him?  If you look around the league a dozen teams could use/want Norwell. Resigning him is job one.

It is eerie how clos it has been in the past.  The Everette Brown  & Duke Robinson draft only made sense from one of those.  

Was Joe Adams in that class too?

We have to nail this draft. 

We cannot have any projects in the first 3 rounds (since we don't have a 4th)  Round 5-7 we need to look for contributors and if none are available then take a project.

Hurney has a tendency to reach for players "with potential" way to early.

He also needs to have success on UDFAs.
