Am I overreacting to say we need an entire secondary change?

Do you not remember Norman's first two years here? A lot of you guys wanted him cut heading into the 2014 preseason.

I'm not saying we shouldn't bring another corner in, but chill out with demands for 2 year players to be cut.

Safety on the other hand, does need to be revamped.

You are not overreacting. We need to revamp the secondary. If i was the GM, i would cut both safeties: Kurt and Adams. Replace them by FA and in the draft (2nd round).

Cut Captain and sign one of these guys: Breeland, Fuller, Colvin. Bradberry, Worley and Corn Elder will have to fight it out and camp.

I wouldn't complain a bit if we had two new starting safeties next year, but you need depth too. Adams' contract wouldn't be terrible for a backup, but you gotta cut Coleman if he isn't starting. We could cut Captain but it'd probably have to be a post June 1st cut. His contract would roughly wash clean over the next two years in terms of cap hit.

Mike Adams was our best secondary player the whole year, and I wouldn’t even say it’s close.

While he’s understandably slow on some plays, he’s been consistently the one in position and knew what to do.

Then again, it also is telling the dire situation of our secondary all year.

Most of our secondary’s woes stem from Wilks imo. He had the least DB friendly scheme and gave them the hardest job on the field when they’re clearly not a strength.

Never said they should be cut. If you cut them, who will provide depth?

Yeah, not hating on Adams. I think he played about as well as you can expect from an aging late-30s safety. But that's no guarantee he won't decline next year. He's definitely on the downslope and I don't want to be stuck with him penciled in as a starter if he shows up to camp next year two steps slower.

Overreacting imo tho I do think we need upgrades at safety....a lot of brees throws were just flat out perfect and his wrs didnt drop anything....you can't help much when a defender is in perfect position and a throw is made perfect...offense has the advantage. The problem we had yesterday was no pressure...cbs cant hold up forever exspecially against brees anf especially when your 5 to 6 man blitz doesnt het home!

Bradberry and worley are only 2nd year players and still can grow a lot...they did great imo considering the amount we blitzed and it seemed we rarely got pressure when blitzing...most of our sacks came from the front 4 and that's how our scheme is meant to work , the occasional blitz with alot of blitz looks that end up dropping out should work better...

We need quicker and faster safeties. It's been the case ever since we lost the Minter/Grant tandem.

Mitchell was a hard hitter but we need a quick guy who can be the back-end general behind Luke, can play in the box, and is a sure fire tackler.

That kid from Virginia looks interesting.

Bradberry/Worley/Captain/Elder isn't the end of the world but the safety position needs to finally be given some love after years upon years of neglect.

I disagree.  Our CBs are good tacklers in run support.  They are asked to do a lot because we had to blitz so much and because we had weak, slow, sometimes stupid safety play.  Huge mistake to give up on Worley and Bradbury.  Norman was trash until what, year 3 or 4?   Fix S, get a bit better at DE, and watch.
