Ron Rivera likely gone with new owner

Interesting..

Go get Jim Harbaugh..

His scheme would work well with Cam Newton..

From ESPN

been a sense that Harbaugh, who was 44-19-1 with one Super Bowl appearance in four seasons as coach of the 49ers from 2011-14, would like to try the NFL again. Should he make himself available, he'd be very intriguing to more than one team.

Actually the smartest move a new owner could do is to trade Rivera for some compensation while he is worth something.

Unless they have changed the rules since this article: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/02/teams-can-still-trade-for-head-coaches/

I heard that you can't trade for HC from some people but that doesn't seem true.

Even if we went from "above avg" (just avg imo but w/e we'll give it that) HC to just avg HC but improved our OC from dead last in NFL history to even competent it would be a dramatic overall increase in the football team. Therefore worth it and you do it everyday twice on sunday, and all the other cliches.

Say what you want about Shula, but he runs laps around Jeff Davidson as an OC. You must be new around here...

Harbaugh + Cam = Super Bowl.

That would be the best possible outcome in this situation. He made Kaepernick look like Cam Newton. Imagine what he would do if he actually had Cam Newton?

My feeling, with Luke and cam in their primes, it is time to get the best coaches for them or the Panthers can forget about it and Rivera's penchant for loyalty over improvements and production is not acceptable

There is no need to revisit Shula or Hurney or Wilks or anything else

this is a business  a performance business not a feel good business

in the NFL it is constant revision to go forward and the Panthers have stay the course coaches

this team is very very fragile.  Luke, one concussion from being finished. I suggested we draft the lb from Georgia in another thread  and someone said with 'Luke that was absurd, no, it isn't.  The key position to the defense has issues with concussions prepare for it.  Luke was drafted to replace  Beason who was once untouchable

He's speculating, but yeah it's possible. I'd wager that Rivera is a lot more likely to stick around than Marty Hurney.

And rightfully so. I say new ownership brings in a GM and says stick with Rivera for atleast next year and then the GM can decide completely on his own what to do with the coaching staff. Whether it be get rid of Rivera and bring in his own coach or even force Rivera’s hand on bad assistants or if we have success next year keep them all in place. But the owner needs to establish a set hierarchy and the GM he hires should have total control over coaching staff.
